#1-#9 are QUALITY OF THE TRIMMER HEAD. #10 is how well does it work when you are not replacing line.
Weedeating/trimming is THE WORST. Respooling line is worse than that.
If you are fighting a crap quality head, you’re going to wish you’d never gone full-in with product X’s battery line-up. THIS is where you switch to Product Y with a better quality trimmer head and have a dual battery setup so your trimmer actually works.
Some manufacturers make great mowers/blowers, some make better trimmers.
The head, the head, the head.

That’s a valid question, Bob. The short answer is no, we’re not trying to avoid offending manufacturers. The reality is there are far more priorities than we can cover in just a few recommendations and it’s our desire to be as helpful as possible, so we try to cover a handful of major categories. Then we add all the additional ones because we know some folks are already invested in a battery system and just want to know what the best model is for the batteries they already have. It takes a lot more work than many sites are willing to put in, but we believe it’s worth it if it helps folks find a product that makes their job or life easier.

A-weighting and C-weighting are both weighting factors applied to the frequency content of the sound and are intended to represent the ear’s varying sensitivity to sound. A-weighting reduces the contribution of both low-frequency and very high-frequency sounds to the overall sound level, whereas C-weighting only reduces the contribution of low-frequency sounds. The unweighted sound level would simply be expressed in dB. There’s lots of additional good info here, though it’s a bit dense. https://animations.physics.unsw.edu.au/jw/dB.htm

Hey Norm, sorry for the confusion on that. That’s its ranking, 4th place out of the 11 we tested. Its actual rating is much higher. You’re correct, though, this is an older model and there are newer ones available. Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback!

EGO on so many sites gets rave reviews. I admit I fell for the fever and I regretted it big time. I used it 3 times on a small yard, fine fescue lawn. Worst trimmer I have ever used!!!!! I returned it for a refund.
Now, my confusion is with the Stihl. I went to a store looked at and spent some time handling the unit your review included. I liked it. A lot. The way it feeds line, the ergonomics, the balance, etc. But before buying it I thought I would revisit your review. As I looked at the graphs I was more and more liking the Stihl. Comments like “Husqvarna and Stihl hold a higher standard in cutting power…” further bolstered my opinion. Your article had the price at $229. Actually, the most common sold one at the store I was at is $339 (without battery/charger) using their better 300 s battery. Anyway, I was astonished when I got toward the bottom of the reviews and you had the Stihl 4 out of 11. I went back and compared/factored a score based on graphs, and looked at the most important ones for most users. I don’t get it. Your score 4/11 doesn’t seem consistent with the data/graphs. Why did you score it so poorly?

I have horse tails in my raspberries, for example. want to be able to use some fine precision. Ya, I know I will miss sometimes and kill a keeper.
