DeWalt FlexVolt Concrete Saw Video

DeWalt FlexVolt Concrete Saw Video

We recently visited DeWalt at this past World of Concrete event in Las Vegas, and they had some new additions to their FlexVolt line of cordless tools. The most impressive, for us, was the DeWalt FlexVolt Concrete Saw, which combines power, convenience, and OSHA compliance. I’m pretty sure we’re not alone in our excitement considering the crowd of people that surrounded it for most of the event.

The DCS690 has not hit the market quite yet, but keep an eye out this summer. This 9″ saw, operating on DeWalt’s FlexVolt line, handles your concrete scoring, cinder block, and rebar situations. On concrete, you can expect to get about 25′ on a charge, and around 80 cuts on rebar. Initially, this might not sound earth-shatteringly impressive.

Bear in mind, however, that this is a battery-powered tool that is designed for punch list work, And, when it only weighs half of what its gas counterpart does, it makes for a pretty viable option on the jobsite. So keep in mind what it’s designed to do and that it isn’t a full replacement for a gas saw.

What’s probably the biggest draw is that weight reduction. Just like 12V tools, when you can grab the lighter and more compact model to get the job done just as effectively, it’s the right tool for the job. You’ll have to judge for yourself how much of your work it will handle.
