Mostly impressed with feel and accuracy. Return spring was great. Curve in the blade is definitely a draw back for quick reading. I do mostly home renovation work so not the hardest on tapes. Pulled it out one day and the end was bent and tape crinkled. Totally not impressed with endurance of the tape. 2 months in and now junk. Going back to my old fat max which is going on 2 years old no real problems and still accurate

I do find that the tape itself wears out quicker than some of the other tapes I’ve had. It kind of sucks that this tape feels great in hand and the hook works incredibly well but the tape gets worn so quickly. What good is drop protection if you can treat it great and the tape gets worn out in a few months?

Not just you. Wearing goggles in low light I find it harder to see the nite eye marks than the standard.

Has issues retracting beyond 13-15 feet and you can feel it stressing to go further. Do not buy !!

I hardly ever think it’s worth writing a review, but in this case it’s mandatory. These are pure junk. The clip is not only flimsy, but the tip is so close to the body of the tape, I defy anyone to put it on your belt with one hand, even with two hands it’s a chore, what a joke! I’ve had one for just over two months, which is only seconds in tool-life-years, and already the first foot or so is crimped and dinged from the tape stop pinching it. The tape itself is twisting as it goes out so after a foot or so the shoe is tilted quite a bit to one side making it almost impossible to hook it over the edge of anything you might want to measure.
The sad part is this comes from a long respected name in tape measures. I just bought the equivalent HF tape and it is a gem to say the least, a real tool.

Downunder the 10M tape retails for $37 AUD which is @ $5+ for other tapes. As to the accuracy issue the tape I bought is spot on. I don’t use the clip and a tapes throw is irrelevant in my trade. To date all seems ok,

I don’t see any issues with the thickness on this one. Its long standout is partially a function of a thick enough blade combined with the width and curve of it. In our opinion, this absolutely belongs in consideration with other premium tapes.

I bought the black widow and I liked it but the blade was vary thin and I could tell it would twist at the end. I have been waiting for them to make a better version of the tape itself. I really want to pick one of these up but there is no store around that carrys them so it is only available online. But I don’t want to have the same tape issue. How is the tape metal quality and thickness compare to other pro tapes?

I purchased a 16′ regular version and was unimpressed. It did feel great in my hand but the blade and retracting mechanism left a lot to be desired. In order to get the rated Stand-Out, the blade is concave to the point of being a semi-circle. The edges of the tape were straight up. I couldn’t just tip the tape over to get the blade edge against my work piece, I had to lay the whole thing on its side. It still broke at 12′ 10″ — every time. Not too shabby but not 14′ as advertised. Many times I’d retract the blade and it wouldn’t retract fully. About 4″ stuck out. I could push it in and it would pop back out. I had to extend the blade about 6′ and let it retract quickly to resolve. I contacted the seller and they sent me another. Same issues! Except the Stand-Out was only 9′ 10″ — every time. That’s serviceable but nowhere 14′. I’m a bit weird. I don’t like any belt clips except FastCap’s clothespin style. *And* as it turns out, the FastCap belt clip screws onto the Shockforce perfectly! I don’t care if it’ll withstand a 100′ fall. Haven’t tried it. Don’t intend to. I try to keep as close to the ground as possible. So, if they fix the accuracy and retracting issues (and offer a clothespin style belt clip), I’d sing its praises.

After two weeks the night eye one has rubbed off significantly on the bottom of the blade. The regular one is doing it as well but not as much. I’ve used it less though.

I don’t think the night eye is any more visible in dark but that could just be me
