You can disable the slow start feature on the xvj02z by simply turning on the saw with speed dial at 1 then quickly turning the dial to 6 then back to 1.
It should blink 2 to three times and the the slow start is disabled until you reset it back to 1.
I called makita and they said it could not be disabled but I tried this today and it worked perfect.

I would try the following method that is made for my 12 cxt brushless jigsaw : Disabling the soft no-load : To disable the soft no-load rotation function, follow the steps below.

Make sure that the tool is turned off.
Set the speed adjusting dial to “1”.
Press the lock/unlock button to turn on the tool.
Set the speed adjusting dial to “5” by turning it, and then set it to “1” by turn it back.
The lamp blinks twice to indicate that the soft no-load rotation function is disabled. To enable this function again, perform the same procedure again.

The slow start feature is the most annoying thing on any makita tool I own, and I have plenty. There should be a feature to disable it, but as far as I know it is not possible. Of all the makita tools that is the only one that I would happily remove from my collection if it wasn’t such a pain to start with another battery platform
