Can Mean Green Capture the Performance Homeowner Electric Zero-Turn Market?
We first heard of the Mean Green Nemesis ZT back in 2016. At that time, the Mean Green Nemesis residential electric zero-turn mower carried the NXR moniker. The final ZT mower looks less like their commercial ZTRs and more like what we’ve come to expect from manufacturers releasing consumer-targeted models. The Nemesis ZTR targets residential consumers and supports up to 5 acres of mowing on a charge. We hope to see whether they offer enough premium features and performance to match their rather premium pricing.
Mean Green Nemesis Residential ZTR Mower – The Big Deal
Mean Green designed the Nemesis ZTR to provide up to 2.25 hours of continuous mowing. In that time it can mow around 5 acres before having to be recharged. It carries an onboard 7.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. They claim that matches up to a 28 HP gas motor in terms of performance. From our experience that should provide plenty of power to drive either the 48-inch or 60-inch side-discharge Vortex deck options.
The onboard Mean Green battery takes around 7.5 hours to recharge, so plan to plug it in overnight when you’re done mowing for the day. Commercial users will want one of Mean Green’s larger, more capable electric zero-turn mowers.
Green Machine did a great job with the design of the Nemesis ZTR mower. They also gave it some advanced features. It includes a touchscreen LCD on the right side and a ROPS bar for protection against rollovers. The mower works on hills up to 15-degrees. Finally, a premium comfort suspension seat matches those we keep seeing on several top-tier commercial mowers—including those from Mean Green.

Closing Thoughts
We’ve followed Mean Green Mowers for quite some time. They entered the electric ZTR market earlier than anyone else so they have a lot of experience with battery-powered zero-turn lawnmowers. The big question on our minds has to do with whether they can successfully sell an electric ZTR mower at such a premium price point when consumers can pick up similar machines for less than half the price.
