Tapcon Next-Gen Blue Concrete Screw Anchors

There is an expectation that even the best concrete screw anchors will break or spin out during installation. This makes for more rework, slowing down productivity. Now, next-gen Tapcon Concrete Screw Anchors feature designs that aim to minimize rework due to fastener SNAFUs.

Tapcon On the New Anchors

Our most recent research points out a desire for anchors that minimize re-work and deliver jobsite productivity. Currently, end-users expect one in five threaded anchors to fail due to head snaps or spinouts during installation. Additionally, users have shared that the Phillips recess on flat head anchors causes bit slips resulting in a lack of productivity. With Tapcon’s new features, we address these key end-user pain points in installation failure.

How Tapcon Improved Their Concrete Screw Anchors

Tapcon has introduced two new anchor designs. The Star Flat Head (shown above) replaces the Phillips recess on the flat head anchors. The star design gives you six points of contact between the bit and the anchor. This helps eliminate bit slip during installation. It’s particularly helpful in high torque applications where Phillips bits have a tendency to camout.

Tapcon Concrete Screw Anchor

The Tapcon Hex Head Concrete Screw Anchor features underhead ribbing that resists anchor spin outs and head snaps during installation. Basically, the ribs limit over-torquing of the anchor during installation.

Finally, both of the next-gen Tapcon Concrete Screw Anchors feature a unique thread design that reduces torque requirements during installation. The threads also deliver consistent drive across all concrete and masonry substrates. And, like you’d expect, they also feature the same blue Climaseal coating that resists corrosion.

Availability

The Tapcon Concrete Screw Anchors are available in 3/16″ and 1/4″ diameters in your standard sizes. They are available in small, medium, and large pack counts. In addition to the standard blue Climaseal offerings, you can pick up these Tapcons in a white Ultrashield, Gray Maxiset, and 410 Stainless Steel offerings.
