Home Depot seems to use the term “ceramic” to describe all tile. The PEI rating is for both porcelain and ceramic tile. The acronym actually stands for “Porcelain Enamel Institute”. It’s indeed difficult to fully answer the question, but hopefully, we illustrated at least some of the key things you can consider when choosing.
