DeWalt DCF891 and DCF892 Mid-Torque Impact Wrench Adds Precision

DeWalt’s Newest Impact Wrenches Have Two Anvil Settings for Any Job

If you’re in the market for a new impact wrench, DeWalt has you covered. Whether your needs are geared toward the automotive industry or other general high-torque jobs, two DeWalt 20V mid-torque (mid-range) Impact wrench options (DCF891 hog ring or DCF892 detent pin) could offer you the power you need.

DeWalt 20V Mid-Torque Impact Wrench – The Big Deal

Previously, DeWalt offered DCF894H (hog ring) and DCF894 (pin detent) mid-torque impact wrench options. Each tool featured a maximum fastening torque of 330 ft-lbs with 600 ft-lbs of breakaway torque. It also used an electromechanical 3-mode switch at the base of the tool to swap between its lowest and highest speed settings. The new offerings from DeWalt completely redesign their mid-torque impact wrenches with new motors and technology.

DeWalt continues to offer its mid-torque impact wrench line with your choice of anvil. The DeWalt DCF892 uses a hog ring anvil, which is geared toward jobs that require quick socket changes. The DeWalt DCF891 features a detent pin anvil to hold sockets more securely.

Where things start to get very different, however, is how these tools add more usable torque. The DeWalt mid-torque impact wrench seems to do a much better job balancing performance and size. It now gets up to 600 ft-lbs of fastening torque, and 800 ft-lbs of breakaway torque. That max torque number bests the DCF894 by 33%!

4-Modes With Precision Wrench Mode

Additionally, DeWalt replaced the 3-position mechanical switch at the base of the tool with a 4-mode pushbutton system. They also added a Precision Wrench mode. When fastening in this mode, the tool runs at 2000 RPM until it begins impacting. It then pauses for 1/2 second before continuing. This reduces the chance of overtightening your nut or bolt and damaging material.

When loosening nuts in this mode, the tool impacts at a normal speed until the fastener breaks free. Then, the tool stops impacting and reduces speed. This keeps you from unnecessarily losing nuts and other hardware.

The modes work with the following speeds:
