That’s good because if you’re building something, you’re going to want the pieces to stay together. I was wondering what the best way to assemble my project is and now I think I know.

Since a good edge joint is stronger than the wood around it, it does not add any useful strength and in the case of dowels, probably weakens the joint. I remember seeing Tom Silva using Dominos to help glue up a built-in window seat and thinking to myself, “There’s a very expensive tool doing a job that does not need to be done.”

Some would argue it aids alignment. Maybe, if you do it right, but if you’re off a bit it will hinder alignment.

Also Titebond’s No-Run No-Drip (nee Molding) glue does a reasonable job on end grain. I’d not rely on it alone for critical end or miter joints but it has more strength than other PVAs.
