Have owned festool domino cutters for over 10 years. Cutter heads do not last as long as they once did. At $46 per cutter and only getting 2 to 3 thousand cuts.

Be warned: once you buy into Festool you will end up buying more and selling your old inferior tools on Craigslist as I have done. Festool is the best hands down.

There isn’t a lot of competition, which is why Festool can command the pricing they do. There’s a DeWalt plate joiner (~$200) and bench top mortise machines from Grizzly, Jet, Delta, Shop Fox, Baileigh Industrial, and others for anywhere between $200-600. Most people use jigs to save a lot of money, but the Festool saves you time.
