It’s an extra hundred or so bucks. Anybody have good advice? Mine is on backorder but I’ll change if need be.

Plenty of power for the hardwoods. You can also plane wider stock by removing the guard and making two passes. Be careful when changing position of cutters, clean under each one to maintain a smooth cut.

hi Ron,
i just checked the measurement on mine today and i came in right at 8″. if you set the fence a smidge over the cutterhead, you will loose a bit of cutting surface. it’s also difficult to surface a rough sawn board that is a full 8″ wide because of the untrue/uneven sides. in my experience with the machine (and probably true of most 8″ jointers), it’s best to work with rough lumber at 7-3/4″ width and under.

hope that helps!
– Jon

Is that true? If so, I think I’ll upgrade to the other spiral manufacturer.
