Worx 20V Cordless 4 1/2-Inch Circular Saw Gets A Refresh

The Worx Nitro 20V cordless 4 1/2-inch circular saw originally came on our radar in the back half of 2021, and the DIY-targeted compact saw is already getting an update.

Work Nitro 4-1/2 inch circular saw

The Worx WX531L now has updated circuitry engineered to change its power depending on the material you’re cutting. Its power under load increases up to 55% on hardwoods like oak and maple, and readjusts for lower power when you’re cutting into softer woods like pine or OSB. Worx designed this technology to conserve runtime and increase the longevity of your battery’s life.

Another important change to this saw is actually to the blade itself— it comes with a 4-1/2-inch carbide-tipped CuttingEdge blade featuring 24 teeth. According to Worx, this type of blade is more appropriate for carpentry work, so you get higher-quality cuts that produce a better finish.

The blade’s thin kerf design achieves no-load speeds of up to 6,900 RPM. Thanks to its brushless motor, the Worx Nitro 4 1/2-inch circular saw gets up to 25% more power and 50% longer runtimes compared to similar tools that used brushed technology.

Worx Nitro 20V Cordless 4 1/2-Inch Circular Saw Design

The physical design of this saw follows models such as DeWalt’s 20V Atomic 4 1/2-inch circular saw and is meant to use with one hand. Its lighter weight is easier to manage, though it does take some practice to cut accurately.

The saw has a maximum cutting depth of 1-1/2 inches at 90° and 1 1/8 inches at 45°. Its beveling capability ranges from 0° to 46°. At 90°, that’s just enough to cut through 2x material, but cutting sheet goods is what saws like the WX531 excel at.

Particularly if you’re right-handed, you have a fantastic sight line to the blade since you don’t have a second hand obstructing your view.

Additional Features

  • Adjustable depth-of-cut lever on the rear
  • Ergonomic handle
  • Spindle lock for fast blade changes
  • Lightweight and compact— weighs less than 5 lbs with battery

  • Built-in vacuum port
