Cut Just About Anything One-Handed with the Ridgid Multi-Material Saw

The R87547B operates similarly to your standard angle grinder and cut-off wheel setup, but in a smaller package that you can wield one-handed.

What Can the Ridgid Multi-Material Saw Tackle?

With a brushless motor that cranks out up to 19,000 RPM, the Ridgid Sub-Compact Multi-Material Saw provides quick cuts in a variety of materials. It comes with three different 3″ wheels. Each wheel targets either metal, tile, PVC, drywall, and/or plaster.

Ridgid optimized the R87547B ergonomics and design for one-handed use. First, it weighs in at only a pound and a half (for the bare tool). Its 4 x 11 x 4 frame also lets it get into spaces that could be a challenge for a circular saw or even an angle grinder.

Dual Direction and Movable Guard

The Ridgid R87547B saw features a variable-speed trigger and direction selection switch for forward and reverse. In Forward, the wheel spins in the direction you’d expect for an angle grinder. In Reverse, it operates more like a mini circular saw.

It also features a tool-free rotating guard adjustment and an adjustable wire cut-depth guide. An LED work light keeps your workspace visible, even in dim light quality.

Pricing

The Ridgid Sub-Compact Multi-Material Saw only comes as a bare tool, and you can pick it up at your local Home Depot or online for $99. Like all of the Ridgid tools, it comes with a Lifetime Service Agreement.

I recently bought a Milwaukee M12 cut-off tool also using 3 in. blades. I bought it to supplement a Dremel corded saw, and in comparison, it comes out way ahead. It definitely cuts, doesn’t bog down like the Dremel, and so far I have been surprised by battery life. But it doesn’t have a shoe like the Dremel, just a dust shroud attachment. It looks like the Rigid does in the pictures, but it is hard to tell. Does it? And will it take the toothed saw blades of the Dremel (the Milwaukee does) or just the abrasive/diamond type? Wow looks just like the Milwaukee that everyone seems to look down on but I use the crap out of mine. But Milwaukee uses a 3/8 arbor witch is the same as most dremal wheels. If it’s anything like the Milwaukee it should be a sweet little tool

Try finding the wheels though, with the 7/16″ arbor (Home Depot doesn’t stock them.)
