Werner Pro Platform
PTR Review
  • Pro Rating 9.6

Considering how useful the Werner Adjustable Pro Platform is (and how many times we had to get Clint to bring it back so we could finish testing it), it's hard to imagine doing our jobs without it now.

Overall Score 9.6 (out of 10)

Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform is a Must-Have for Any Contractor

I have to admit that it’s taken us longer to get our review of the Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform than I expected. The problem? We couldn’t get it away from Clint DeBoer long enough to do our testing!

Now that he’s done with all of the projects around his house, the rest of our team has had a chance to use it and weigh in on this incredibly useful support platform.

Pros

  • Wide platform is easier on your feet and more stable than ladder rungs
  • Step-friendly adjustable height
  • Lightweight enough to easily carry with one hand (21.5 pounds)
  • Easy setup and adjustments
  • Legs lock in both open and closed positions

Cons

  • No significant drawbacks

Recommendation

Considering how useful the Werner Adjustable Pro Platform is (and how many times we had to get Clint to bring it back so we could finish testing it), it’s hard to image doing our jobs without it now.

You still need quality extension and A-frame ladders, of course. However, you should really consider adding this platform to that list of must-have support items as well. When you’re working at heights of roughly 9 feet or less, including on stairs, it’s simply safer and more comfortable.

For a lot of our reviews, the features are a nice aside while the performance is what really drives the tool’s usefulness. For the Werner Adjustable Pro Platform, it’s the design features that make it so doggone useful.

Step Up to Foot Relief

The number one reason to go with a work platform over a ladder is simply to have a longer, wider base to stand on. With Werner’s design, it’s 46 inches long and 14 inches wide. It’s more stable, gives you room to move around some, and is sooo much easier on your feet than ladder rungs.

The side edges have a non-marring bumper. In addition to protecting surfaces, it’s also give your feet a little bit of tactile feedback so you know you’re close to the edge.

Simple Step-Friendly Setup

Setting up the Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform is super-easy. Squeeze the two yellow tabs just underneath the platform to release the legs. They’re made of plastic with no hard edges, so they’re really easy on your fingers even if you’re not wearing gloves.

Leg lock

There’s a little stiffness to the pivot and that’s a good thing. When you release either side, gravity doesn’t take over and swing the legs down. While that makes it a two-hand operation, it prevents them from slamming against the stop and causing undue wear.

Height adjustment

In its base configuration, the platform, gives you an additional 20 inches of reach. By squeezing the button under the side step, you can adjust it in 1-inch increments up to 30 inches.

Between using just one set of legs and being able to adjust both sides, you can easily work on any steps or stairs without having the platform off balance.

Easy Transport

Thanks to its 21.5-pound weight, the Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform is easy to carry around with one hand. There’s a center handle that Werner dubs “Easy-Grab” to help you out.

Carrying in the center, the platform wants to balance out top-side up. That’s helpful when you’re adjusting the legs, but tough to carry around. You can carry it to either side of the handle so it’s sideways, though it’s not as comfortable on your hands.

When you’re in the middle of painting or nailing trim, the handle makes it easier to move the platform along quickly as you go.

Tough Build

For an adjustable design, the platform feels really well-built. It’s nice and stable with no wobble in the joints. Even the locks for the pivot and height adjustments on the legs seem solid.

Locked Leg

It carries a 300-pound load rating, so it should cover most people and the tools they’re carrying or have on a tool belt.

Price

The Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform is available for $109 and Lowe’s is the best retailer to find it. Given its built quality and versatility, we think that’s a fair price.

Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform: The Bottom Line

Considering how useful the Werner Adjustable Pro Platform is (and how many times we had to get Clint to bring it back so we could finish testing it), it’s hard to imagine doing our jobs without it now.

I love mine! The ONLY drawback I have as an older male is that the side steup could be a little lower. AND that is it, get one and be amazed at how you hardly ever need a ladder!

did you try it on a roof? like, for windows and siding?
