So you’ve settled on a Greenworks snow blower, or maybe you’ve put them on your shortlist and want to take a closer look at the line. With more than a dozen to choose from, which one should you buy?

Our team of experts did the homework for you. Whether you’re looking for a Greenworks cordless snow blower or a corded electric model, our goal is to help you narrow down the field by offering our top recommendations.

Greenworks Commercial 82V Dual Stage Snow Blower: Best of the Best

The top-of-the-line for Greenworks unsurprisingly comes from the 82V Commercial series. The Dual Stage snow blower (or snow thrower) has a 24-inch clearing width, can handle up to 20 inches of snow depth, can throw up to 50 feet, and has power equivalent to a 253cc gas engine. Thanks to three active battery ports, you can have the runtime onboard to clear more than 3000 square feet.

But that’s not all by a long shot. This is a ZTS, meaning that it’s self-propelled and has a zero turning radius. Plus you get three forward speeds along with a reverse speed. With such a muscular build, it’s really helpful when you’re clearing larger or longer areas and you’re wasting effort turning the machine around.

Keep in mind that as part of the Commercial series, this snow blower is built to handle professional applications. Here are some more details:

  • Brushless motor
  • Independent hub wheel motor with traction control
  • 15 x 5-inch tires
  • Adjustable drift cutters
  • Non-marring skid shoes
  • Top-mounted LED headlights
  • Adjustable chute direction
  • 14-gauge steel intake
  • 12-gauge steel auger
  • Steel shave plate

This isn’t a cheap snow blower and the bare tool runs $1299.99. From there, you can choose the battery and charger loadout you want.

Also Available

Greenworks Commerical 82V 22-Inch Snow Blower

If you’re looking for a single-stage option for professional use, Greenworks Commercial has a 22-inch model that can suit your needs. It clears snow up to 12 1/2 inches deep with the ability to throw it up to 30 feet. It has two active battery ports to extend your runtime and is capable of running on just one battery.

You can pick this one up as a kit with an 8.0Ah battery and charger for $799.99. It’s also available as a bare tool for $505.99.

Greenworks Commercial 24V Snow Shovel

Supplementing your walk-behind snow blower for smaller areas or quick cleanup with its 12-inch clearing width, the Commercial line includes a powered snow shovel. This one runs on the 24V system, saving you quite a bit of weight compared to the larger 82V packs.

Grab this one for $299.99 with a 4.0Ah battery and charger.

Greenworks 60V Snow Blower: Best Performance for Residential

Greenworks Pro 60V Dual Stage Snow Blower

If you’re on the hunt for a battery-powered dual-stage snow blower for residential use, the 60V line has one, too. also shares very similar performance characteristics with the 82V model. It has the power of a 253cc gas engine with the capacity to handle 24 inches of clearing width and 14 inches of height with a max throw of 50 feet.

It’s also a zero-turn design with three active battery ports, giving you many of the benefits of the Commercial Dual Stage on the residential 60V platform. The biggest differences include roughly half the clearing capacity per charge and the lower snow depth capacity. That said, it’s the most capable residential design Greenworks currently has if high-performance is your top priority.

  • LED headlights
  • Variable speed controls
  • 200° chute rotation

Tractor Supply has this model packed with two 8.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger for $1499.99.

Also Available

Greenworks Pro 60V 22-Inch Snow Blower

The Greenworks 60V 22-inch Snow Blower is rated to handle up to 2/3 of an acre and throws snow an impressive 30 feet. Looks-wise, it’s very similar to its 80V counterpart with the exception that this model comes with two 5.0Ah batteries to go in the dual active ports. The machine only needs one battery to run and automatically switches over when the first runs out. This snow blower runs $599.99 with two batteries and a dual-port charger.

When it comes to single-stage snowblowers, this is the top performer on the 60V line.

Pro 60V 20-Inch Brushless Snow Blower

Quickly clear driveways, sidewalks, and patios with the Greenworks 20-inch brushless snow blower which can handle snowfalls up to 10 inches deep with its 20-inch wide intake. Expect the throw to reach up to 20 feet and runtime as high as 50 minutes, depending on the snow conditions.

It runs $399.99 with a 5.0Ah battery and charger. That’s a pretty big price drop from where it was last year, making this model an excellent value option.

Pro 60V 12-Inch Brushless Snow Shovel

The single-stage 60V cordless snow shovel is compact, portable, and easy to store during the off-season. The 12-inch clearing path handles up to 6 inches of snowfall and can run up to 45 minutes with the 4.0Ah battery that comes in the kit.

Grab it for $299.99 with a 4.0Ah battery and charger. It’s an excellent option for smaller driveways and areas that receive less snow, or to supplement your larger walk-behind snow blower.

Greenworks 80V Snow Blower: Another High-Performance Option

Greenworks Pro 80V Brushless 22-Inch Snow Blower

There’s a 22-inch cordless snow blower that’s the flagship of the 80V line and your best bet for the top performance on this platform. Using the 4.0Ah battery that comes with the kit, it has the runtime to clear a 6-car driveway on one charge. There’s also a second active battery port you can use to extend your coverage. • Dual LED lights for snow blowing in the dark
  • 180° chute adjustment
  • Folding handle
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 80V batteries

This one has lower capacity and power at a less expensive price point. It has a 20-inch clearing width, handles up to 10 inches of depth, and has a 20-foot max throw. Using the 2.0Ah battery that comes in the kit, you can expect up to 45 minutes of runtime. It’s $499.99 with a 2.0Ah battery and charger or $399.99 as a bare tool. If you’re on the 80V line, this is your best value option.

Pro 80V Brushless Snow Shovel

Handheld and easier to store, the Pro 80V Snow Shovel has 12-inch width that can handle snow up to 6 inches deep and throw it 20 feet. It’s best on narrower walkways or for quick cleanup when you don’t want to pull your full-size snow blower out of the garafe. Prices run $349.99 with a 2.0Ah battery and charger or $299.99 as a bare tool.

  • Top-mounted headlights
  • 180° rotating chute
  • Folding handle
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 40V batteries

This model is the top-performing 40V option and is a good fit for 4 to 8-car driveways in areas that don’t typically get deep snow. The kit runs $449.99 and the bare tool is $349.99.

The kit includes a 4.0Ah battery and charger for $299.99 or you can grab the bare tool for $249.99. We have seen some lower sale prices on Amazon, making it an even better value.

The battery-powered blower landscape sure has changed since we did our first head-to-head review several years ago. There are a lot more options and the performance is leaps and bounds ahead. So who makes the best cordless leaf blower in 2022?

Best Cordless Leaf Blower Power

EGO 765 CFM Battery-Powered Blower

Best Cordless Blower Power | EGO 765 CFM Battery-Powered Blower

We had blowers from EGO, Ryobi, and Stihl all hitting more than 21 Newtons. But that was then and this is now. EGO’s 765 CFM blower is redefining the landscape by hitting more than 25 Newtons with its stock 5.0Ah battery. It touched 26 Newtons using a high-capacity pack. That’s legit backpack blower territory!

Price: $329.00 with a 5.0Ah battery and charger

More Heavy Hitters

Ryobi 40V HP 730 CFM Blower

With a standard loadout, few cordless blowers hit as high a Newton force as Ryobi’s 40V HP 730 CFM model. With its base configuration, we measured 20.0 N. But cut one notch back on the flexible nozzle (it’s designed to be cut based on your preference) and we measured an impressive 21.7 N!

Price: $229.00 bare, $329.00 with two 4.0Ah batteries and charger

Stihl BGA 200 Blower

Making the case for Stihl’s premium BGA 200, it hit an impressive 21.3 Newtons with both the AP3000 backpack battery and the 6.3Ah AP300 battery pack. Between the performance level and the extended runtime a backpack battery offers, there’s little doubt this is the best cordless blower for performance-minded Pros.

Price: $449.99 bare

EGO 56V 650 CFM Blower

EGO’s 650 CFM blower earns the brand a second mention in this list. With the 5.0Ah battery it comes with, we hit 20.3 Newtons. It was a little higher with a 7.5Ah battery. However, we held 23.2 Newtons with a fully charged 10.0Ah battery. Unless you have the backpack holster, we don’t recommend using this configuration because of the weight. However, that does make EGO’s 650 the second strongest cordless blower we’ve tested to date, sitting only behind… EGO.

Price: $219.00 bare, $279.00 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

Quietest Cordless Leaf Blower

Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 730 CFM Blower

Best cordless leaf blower noise level

As battery-powered blowers have increased in power, their noise levels have crept up along with it. Reversing that trend, Ryobi’s 40V HP Brushless 730 CFM leaf blower crushed it in our Newton force test by hitting 21.7 N. But instead of producing the 85–88 decibels most high-performance blowers do, it’s just 72 decibels in high and 76 decibels in Turbo measuring from our operator’s ear.

Let’s put that in perspective. The SPL (decibel) scale shows that a drop of just 3 decibels is half the sound pressure level. However, a drop of 10 decibels sounds half as loud. For Ryobi, running in Turbo mode hits your unprotected ear with roughly 8x lower SPL and half the perceived loudness. It’s incredibly impressive when you’re using it side-by-side with other cordless blowers.

Though it’s a few decibels louder, the Stihl BGA 200 is another model that’s quieter than most.

Price: $229.00 bare, $329.00 with two 4.0Ah batteries and charger

Best Cordless Leaf Blower Vac

Ryobi 40V HP Brushless Jet Fan Blower Vacuum

Ryobi 40V Leaf Blower Vac

Ryobi shook things up with the launch of its 40V HP Brushless blower vac. Other designs have a somewhat awkward side intake method of switching the nozzle around between blowing and vacuuming modes. Ryobi keeps everything in line and eliminates the nozzle switch. Instead, you just attach the bag, flip the switch from blow to vacuum, and you’re on your way.

It’s no slouch in the performance department, with the brushless motor delivering 600 CFM and 100 MPH. While that is a little low on the airspeed side, it’s plenty to handle the blowing and collection of fall leaves that’s the primary goal of this design. It’s also a solid mulcher, with a metal impeller reducing those leaves down at a 20:1 ratio.

Note that this blower vac launches in November 2022.

Price: $369 bare, $469 with two 4.0Ah batteries and a rapid charger

Best Cordless Backpack Blower

Stihl BGA 200 Leaf Blower

Stihl BG 200 Battery Backpack Leaf Blower

Cordless backpack blowers differ significantly from gas backpack blowers. Rather than moving air from the backpack through the nozzle, they typically maintain the same efficient inline design and simply use a tether to shift the weight of the battery to your back.

With that as the standard, it’s hard to argue with the Stihl BGA 200 as our top pick. It has the performance to hit one of the highest blower forces we’ve tested (21.3 N) and the runtime of a 42.3Ah (1522Wh) backpack power source. It’s expensive, though. The whole package including the backpack battery runs north of $1700.

Price: $449.99 bare

Best Cordless Leaf Blower Value

Greenworks Pro 60V 610 CFM Leaf Blower

Best Value Battery Leaf Blower

Getting the most bang for your buck doesn’t mean dropping completely away from excellent performance. Greenworks’ Pro 60V 610 CFM blower offers the best value in our opinion. It pairs a top blower force of 19.7 N with a $199 price tag that includes a 2.5Ah battery and charger. While you can find cheaper battery-powered blower kits, you’ll have a hard time finding one at that price that pushes this much air.

Price: $199.00 with 2.5Ah battery and charger

Best Budget Cordless Leaf Blower

Skil PWRCore 40 Brushless Leaf Blower

Best Budget Battery Blower

If you’re on a tighter budget, check out the Skil PWRCore 40 leaf blower. For $159.00, you get a brushless blower with 500 CFM and 120 MPH top airspeed that hit 12.0 N in our testing. The kit comes with a 2.5Ah battery and PWRJump quick charger.

Price: $159.00 with 2.5Ah battery and charger

More Best Cordless Leaf Blower Options From Brands We Trust

Best DeWalt Battery-Powered Leaf Blower

DeWalt moved to an inline design with the latest version of their FlexVolt blower and hit 17.0 N in our testing. The downside is that it’s loud—91 decibels at our operator’s ear. We also thought the tone of that sound was somewhat irritating. With a 9.0/3.0Ah battery, it ran for 12:12 in our tests.

The bare tool runs $229 and the kit with a 9.0/3.0Ah battery is only $70 more—not bad for a battery that retails for $239 on its own. Plus the battery works with DeWalt’s 20V Max and 60V Max lines of power tools and lawn care equipment.

Price: $229.00 bare, $299.00 with 9.0/3.0Ah battery and charger

Best Hart Cordless Leaf Blower

HART upped its blower game this year with several new battery-powered leaf blower options. That includes a couple that move into much higher-performance classes. The top of the line is the 650 CFM brushless blower. Combined with up to 160 MPH of airspeed and hitting 17.1 Newtons in our tests, it’s also part of HART’s Ultra-Quiet Series. It lets you balance excellent performance while keeping the noise levels down.

Price: $258.00 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

Best Greenworks Battery-Powered Leaf Blower

Greenworks joins the 700 Club as one of the few battery-powered blowers to reach the 700 CFM rating. As the top-performing leaf blower on Greenworks’ Pro 60V line, it’s capable of 170 MPH top speed and is one of the elite blowers to hit 20.0 N in our testing.

Price: $299.99 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

Best Makita Cordless Blower

We love the Makita XBU03 blower as a lightweight blower for quickly cleaning off hard surfaces. If it’s the highest performance you’re looking for, though, check out Makita’s ConnectX system. Using a 1200Wh backpack battery as an energy source, it tethers to the CBU01 blower and produces up to 622 CFM and 157 MPH. It’s part of a Pro-level system aiming to help commercial crews make a seamless transition from gas to battery power.

Price: $449.00 bare

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Blower

Milwaukee’s leaf blower resume` got a big boost with the launch of the 2824. It boasts 600 CFM and 145 MPH. Using two batteries for power, the brushless motor hit an excellent 18.0 Newtons in our testing—much better than the 11.2 Newtons from the previous model. Dropping the ambidextrous cruise control slider to deliver 12N (the high end of handheld gas blowers), we were able to run continuously for more than 30 minutes. Designed for professionals, this one runs $299.00 as a bare tool.

Price: $299.00

Toro 60V Max Flex Force Leaf Blower

Toro has quietly produced an excellent line of cordless OPE and their top brushless blower is worth considering. Maxing out at 605 CFM and 115 MPH, we measured 19.0 N in our testing. Dropping down just a notch from the highest-performing battery-powered blowers, this Toro 60V blower earns a solid value score. The bare tool runs just $149.99 and you can get the kit for $219.99 which includes a 2.5Ah battery and charger. Plus, it’s Made in the USA.

Price: $149.99 bare, $219.99 with 2.5Ah battery and charger

Masterforce 400 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower

You can pick up the Masterforce 20V brushless 400 CFM leaf blower at Menards. It does a fine job considering it hits up to 100 mph and runs on just a single 20V battery. We find it to be a good fit for smaller lawns that mainly require hard surface cleanup after mowing and light fall leaf collection. If that sounds like your lawn and you’re looking for a lightweight alternative to gas or corded leaf blowers, this is for you.

Price: $139.99 with 4Ah FlexPower battery and charger

Cordless Blower Buying Guide | What We Look For

Blowing Force

How much blowing force a cordless blower has makes a big difference in how you’re going to use it. Some might be great for helping you with fall leaves, others might be good for light sweeping only. Air value (CFM) and airspeed (MPH) are helpful, but the numbers we see on the box are best-case scenario, sometimes with different nozzles.

We measure Newton force to get a single number that describes how much force is actually coming from the blower. At the end of the day, that’s the best way to compare the work a blower does.

Runtime

Runtime is another important area to consider. You might have less than 10 minutes of actual trigger time when you clean the driveway and sidewalk after mowing. But your fall leaf management might require 20 or 30. Understanding how much work you have helps you determine whether a blower meets your needs. Most people buy multiple tools that work on the same battery and having extra batteries extends how much work you can get done.

Noise Level

Cordless blowers are quieter than gas models, but that doesn’t mean that all of them are quiet. ANSI standards rate blower noise levels from 50 feet away to consider the hearing safety of bystanders. We measure from our operator’s ear so you know how much noise you have to deal with as the user.

Weight and Balance

Because most cordless blowers are handheld models, it’s good to know how much weight you’re going to muscle around. The balance is important, too. A well-balanced blower points down naturally at wide open throttle so you don’t have to work as hard to keep the nozzle at the best working angle.

Features and Design

Blowers are fairly simple compared to some of the tools we review. Here are some of the features that make using them easier or improve the performance:

  • Brushless motor
  • Cruise control
  • Turbo mode
  • Inline design
  • Multiple nozzles
  • Shoulder strap
  • Rapid charger

In addition to the features themselves, we also look for things you might like or dislike while you’re using the blower such as uncomfortable seams or better grip.

Value

At Pro Tool Reviews, we know price is important. Most of us have some kind of budget we’re working under, but value is more than just an inexpensive price tag. Sometimes, the most expensive option is so far ahead or solves such a big problem that it’s also a great value. Other times, one of the best budget picks presents itself as the best value. Often, it’s something in between. Wherever it is, we want to help you get the most bang for your buck

Greenworks Aims To Help You Kick Your Gas Cans To The Curb

If you’ve been thinking about kicking your gas blower habit, there’s never been a better time to make the switch to battery power. The Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM blower is part of an elite group to crack the 700 CFM mark and we decided to take a closer look at its performance.

Pros

  • Excellent runtime
  • Excellent blowing power
  • Comfortable grip
  • Naturally balanced with battery
  • Shoulder strap included

Cons

  • On the pricey side
  • Heavier than many battery-powered blowers

Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Performance

Runtime

During our tests, we do our best to push the limits so you don’t have to. In the OPE world, battery-powered tools are making a lot of waves. The Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM blower’s runtime definitely impressed us. With a 5.0Ah battery. We set the cruise control knob on high and watched as this powerful blower ran for just shy of 27 minutes and then 13 minutes on turbo mode.

That’s not the longest runtime we’ve seen from a handheld blower, but it’s one of the best and very impressive when you consider its performance level.

Blowing Force

According to the specs, you can get up to 700 CFM and 170 MPH out of this blower. That 700 CFM number is one that we’ve been anticipating for a long time. Only a very select group can claim to hit that level.

Leaf Blower CFM Vs MPH Vs Newton Force

There’s no easy calculation to compare those values against other blowers, but Newton force gives us a number that shows us how much work a blower does. Along with their excellent run time, this blower produced 11.4N of force on high and 18.4N on turbo without the included concentrator nozzle. With it (which is how we recommend using this model) we saw an increase of 1.6N on both settings to hit 13.0N and 20.0N, respectively.

Hitting the 20.0N mark is a big deal for any battery-powered blower. While we have tested other blowers that pushed a little harder, this puts Greenworks in an elite group for performance.

But it gets better. We got our hands on one of the 8.0Ah X-Range batteries and ran our force test again. This time, it pushed even harder and hit 13.5N in high and 21.1N in turbo. That’s some serious blowing force!

Considering gas-powered handheld blowers start around 12N, the Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM blower absolutely has enough power to replace many gas models for residential use. Tough debris and the leaves in your gutters don’t stand a chance, especially once you engage the turbo mode.

Noise Level

The noise levels we measured from our operator’s ear were right in the middle of the scale. On high, our SPL meter read 82 dB(a), and that kicked up to 86 dB(a) using turbo.

Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Design Notes

Weight and Balance

This Greenworks cordless blower weighs 10.2 pounds with a 5Ah battery and is very easy to maneuver. That’s actually one of the heavier handheld blowers currently available, although it’s not oppressive. Bare, the tool weighs 5.7 pounds if you’d like to consider smaller batteries to shave some weight.

Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Profile

One notable design feature is simply the balance of the tool in use. With the battery inserted, the blower naturally points down at around a 45-degree angle. This may not seem important, however, this balance helps avoid wrist strain and improves overall comfort. In the end, the best tool is the one you want to use, and this design fits the bill.

Additional Features

  • Brushless motor
  • Shoulder strap loop (shoulder strap included)
  • Variable speed trigger
  • Cruise control
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries

Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Price

The Greenworks 700 CFM blower starts at $199.99 for the bare tool or $299.99 with a 5.0Ah battery and charger at Tractor Supply. If you don’t need Greenworks’ highest-performing blower, take a look at their 610 CFM model for solid performance at a lower price. Either way, Greenworks warranties the battery and blower for 4 years.

The Bottom Line

Greenworks targets high performance with their 700 CFM blower and nailed it in our testing with results that put them in an elite category. Plus, they did it while keeping their runtime numbers up. It’s a bit heavier than less powerful models and you’ll need to open your wallet a bit more to get your hands on it, but that’s not really a surprise when you’re pushing the performance boundaries.

Stihl BGA 200 Leaf Blower Leads The Line In Blowing Force

Stihl is one of the top brands in lawn care equipment and they know blowers. From the powerful BR 800 Magnum leading the backpack blower class to battery-powered options, they consistently cover the needs of professionals and homeowners. We’re taking a closer look at the Stihl BGA 200 battery-powered leaf blower to give you an idea of what to expect from the high end of the cordless line.

Pros

  • Excellent blowing force
  • High-capacity battery options offer long runtime for professional crews
  • Design takes the weight of the battery off the blower
  • Physical design maintains a natural wrist position while keeping the nozzle aimed down
  • Lightweight at 7.1 pounds

Cons

  • Expensive setup

Stihl BGA 200 Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Performance

Stihl BGA 200 Battery-Powered Leaf Blower

As Stihl’s current leader in battery-powered blowing force, you get 553 CFM with up to 188 MPH that combines for an impressive 21 Newtons of blowing force. It hit slightly higher (21.3 Newtons) in our testing.

You might notice that the blowing force number is one of the few that exceeds 20 Newtons but Stihl isn’t claiming CFM numbers in the 700+ range like some brands. That’s because this blower puts a higher priority on high air speed, meaning it’s going to do a better job of getting heavier and/or wet debris moving than blowers with lower airspeed ratings with higher CFMs.

Learn more about the relationship between CFM, MPH, and Newtons here.

Stihl BGA 200 Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Design

Stihl BGA 200 Battery-Powered Leaf Blower

Right from the start, the blower looks different. As it moves forward from the intake at the back, it curves down at an angle that other brands don’t. It keeps the nozzle pointing at the ground in front of you while your wrist remains in a more natural position, reducing fatigue.

One of the differences between this and other cordless blower designs is that the BGA 200 doesn’t use a battery directly installed on the unit. It tethers to either one of Stihl’s backpack batteries or battery belt. While it’s a different way of doing things, it makes the blower lighter in your hand, weighing just 7.1 pounds.

Stihl Battery

For control, Stihl uses a control dial that’s easily accessible on the fly. As you press forward to cycle through the levels, the dial springs back to its original position rather than simply rotating around.

Additional Highlights

  • Rated at 59 decibels (measured from 50 feet per ANSI standards)
  • Rubberized soft touch handle
  • Hanging slot
  • Indoor-friendly with no emissions
  • No gas and oil to mix
  • No gas engine maintenance or winterizing

Stihl BGA 200 Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Price

Visit your local Stihl dealer or Stihl’s website to order this blower. It runs $449.99 as a bare tool, and you’ll need to add a battery and charger if you’re not already on Stihl’s cordless platform.

The Bottom Line

Stihl designed the BR 200 battery-powered leaf blower for professionals who want or need to move away from gas-powered blowers. As such, it’s highly effective and meticulously designed. Combined with a high-capacity backpack battery, your crew has plenty of trigger time for post-mowing or fall leaf cleanup. It’s the highest-performing battery-powered option in the line… at least for now. At the time we’re writing, Equip Expo (formerly GIE) is next week and we’ll see what Stihl has in store next.

Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower Also Includes a Vacuum Function

If you think shoveling leaves into giant garbage bags is one of the worst parts of Fall cleanup, Ryobi has the product for you. The Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower/Vacuum encompasses the whole leaf-cleanup process, from blowing to vacuuming, to mulching…and it uses an inline design that instantly transforms it from blower to vacuum with the turn of a switch. Find out how this tool could save you a ton of cleanup time.

Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower/Vacuum: The Big Deal

This tool is Ryobi’s first venture into the vacuum/blower combination world. They make already one of the best cordless leaf blowers on the market if you want a great combination of power and low noise. The Ryobi Vac Attack leaf mulcher also impressed us with its ergonomic design. The Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower/Vacuum (RY404015BTLVNM) fuses both concepts into the best of both worlds. In fact, this tool provides up to 25% more mulching than the Vac Attack, while incorporating a simpler, inline design.

The Ryobi RY404150 has an air volume output of up to 600 CFM and an air speed of up to 100 MPH when using the included speed tip. Its single tube design simplifies the transition from blower to vacuum mode with just the turn of a dial.

Twist a Dial to Switch Modes

Yes, to switch from blower to vacuum you just turn a dial. That eliminates the need for extra attachments where you flip the hose out for a vacuum tube. Instead, you just switch modes and attach a bag to the back of the blower. The inline blower tube now acts as the vacuum nozzle.

Compared to similar tools like the Makita XBU04 cordless blower mulcher, which incorporates a vacuum adapter kit with a separate hose, Ryobi’s design is much more streamlined.

Ryobi tells us it delivers 2 times more power thanks to its brushless motor when you compare it to brushed tools. It delivers gas-like performance with the benefits of a cordless battery-powered tool.

As for the vacuuming and mulching capabilities, a metal impeller quickly shreds debris and eliminates clogs. The Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower/Vacuum mulches 20 bags into 1, minimizing downtime spent on emptying. The collection bag holds 10.5 gallons of debris.

A variable speed dial lets you control the airflow, and there’s a cruise control function that you can activate once you find that sweet spot.

Additional Features

  • Includes flared vacuum tip for faster cleanup
  • Includes adjustable harness for better balance and comfort

Ryobi 40V Jet Fan Blower/Vacuum Price

This tool retails for $369 as a bare tool. You can also find it in kit form, including two 40V 4Ah batteries and one rapid charger, for $469. It will be available exclusively at The Home Depot starting in November 2022, just in time for fall cleanup.

Ryobi backs the tool with a 5-year warranty and the batteries with a 3-year warranty.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower Delivers Higher Performance And Runtime

Milwaukee got off to a hot start with its battery-powered lawn care system, but the blower has been in need of an upgrade. The Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower is the response and we’re diving deeper to see if it’s been worth the wait.

Pros

  • Much higher blowing force than previous versions: 18.0 N on our meter
  • Ambidextrous cruise control slider
  • No gas noise, emissions, maintenance, or other hassles
  • Easy-to-see fuel gauge
  • Comfortable handle and trigger design

Cons

  • Sometimes acts like it’s shifting between speeds while using the cruise control at lower levels

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower Performance

Power Source

2 x M18 Batteries

The Milwaukee 2824 requires two M18 batteries to operate and High Output batteries offer the best performance. There are no specific recommendations at the moment, but 8.0Ah High Output packs offer a nice balance of performance, runtime, and weight.

Pro Tip: Be sure to use two batteries of the same capacity that start fully charged to get the best results.

Blowing Force

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower 2824 Review

It’s all about the numbers and the Milwaukee 2824 is a big step up from the previous single-battery design (2724). For airspeed, you’re looking at 145 MPH backed up with up to 600 CFM. At its best, it can produce up to 17.7 Newtons of blowing force. Plus, it has a ridiculously fast throttle response, hitting full power in under a second.

Using a pair of 8.0Ah High Output batteries, we actually registered a peak of 18.3 Newtons with a stable measurement of 18.0. It’s always nice when something exceeds our expectations.

While that doesn’t challenge the highest blowing force numbers we’ve seen, it’s still impressive. Most gas handheld blowers might get you in the 12.0 Newton range, so it’s pushing significantly better than that.

Perhaps more importantly, it’s a level that is capable of moving wet debris far better than Milwaukee’s first efforts.

Runtime

Runtime depends on which batteries and what speed you’re using. With the 8.0Ah High Output batteries we tested with, the blower ran through them in just over 15 minutes at full power. If you want the best runtime, you can use the 12.0Ah High Output packs, which should net you north of 23 minutes at WOT.

Of course, your runtime improves tremendously if you run at lower power levels. We turned the blower to medium (3 bars on the cruise control) and had 4 bars after 30 minutes. It finally quit with 1 hour, 51 minutes on the stopwatch.

Perhaps more relevant, we tuned the cruise control to deliver 12 Newtons—the point where gas models fall away. There, we were able to run for just over 32 minutes (32:12).

Noise Level

Based on ANSI B175.2 testing, Milwaukee’s blower only generates 64 decibels. We test at the operator’s ear rather than 50 feet away so you know what to expect while you’re working. In this case, wide open throttle (WOT) generates 81 dB(a). That should keep the neighbors happy, even if you’re working first thing on Saturday morning.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower Design

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower

Throttle Control

Cruise Control

Like many blowers on the market, you can control the throttle with the variable speed trigger or a cruise control. Milwaukee’s take on the cruise control is a little different, though. It’s a center slider that’s equally easy to operate whether you’re right or left-handed.

You can also operate the trigger with the cruise control on. If you come across some stubborn debris, just hit the trigger to give you full power. When you release it, the cruise control holds it right back to the level it was before.

Size and Weight

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower 2824 Review

The blower is just over 34 inches long and weighs 6.0 pounds without batteries. Your operating weight depends on which batteries you decide to use. If you go with a pair of 8.0Ah High Output packs, you’re looking at 10.7 pounds total.

Additional Highlights

Fuel Gauge
  • Onboard fuel gauge that’s visible while working
  • Secondary hand grip
  • Includes tapered and flat nozzles
  • Compatible with all M18 batteries

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower Price

Milwaukee is launching the 2824 as a bare tool only for $299.00. It’s backed with a 3-year warranty.

That’s more than residential models with similar performance. Just keep in mind that Milwaukee designs its OPE primarily for professional crews and longer days than homeowners ask of their blowers.

The Bottom Line

The Milwaukee M18 Fuel Dual Battery Leaf Blower is a big step up in performance compared to its earlier models, making it an easier sell as a gas replacement. The two-battery design puts more watt-hours worth of battery capacity onboard and improvements to the controls make it easier to use. For fans of Milwaukee’s lawn care lineup, the 2824 fills a big gap for professional crews.

Green Machine Battery-Powered Blower Throws Its Hat In The Ring

Green Machine is a relatively new brand you might have noticed as you browse Home Depot’s website. It’s a 62V system that covers the basic range of what homeowners need to keep their lawns up to par. We brought in the Green Machine 655 CFM battery-powered leaf blower to see what it has to offer.

Green Machine 655 CFM Leaf Blower Performance Design

Physical Design

Green Machine 655 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Review

Green Machine takes on the popular and more efficient inline jet fan design. By pulling air in from the back and shooting it straight out, it eliminates the air friction of sending through a 90° bend the way side-intake models do.

Weight and Balance

Green Machine 655 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Review

By itself, the blower weighs 4.9 pounds and a 4.0Ah battery brings the entire package up to 7.9 pounds. Combined with excellent balance that has a natural downward tilt, it’s very easy to manage.

Additional Highlights

  • Battery is compatible with all Green Machine 62V tools

Green Machine 655 CFM Leaf Blower Performance

Controls

The controls consist of a non-variable trigger that works with a variable speed dial to control the power level. When you need the most power, hit the Turbo button to get stubborn debris moving.

Blowing Force

On paper, the blower is capable of producing 655 CFM and 123 MPH. We set up our force meter to see what they combine to create. In high, our meter registered 12.5 Newtons. That kicked up to 16.8 Newtons using the Turbo button. To put that in perspective, gas handheld blowers designed for homeowners usually top out around 12 Newtons.

Runtime

Green Machine 5.0Ah Battery

At low speed, Green Machine tells us to expect up to 100 minutes of blowing from the 4.0Ah battery that comes in the kit. We tested it in high and were able to blow continuously for 16 minutes and 45 seconds. In Turbo mode, we got 12 minutes and 9 seconds.

Noise Levels

One of the big draws of a battery-powered blower is the lower noise level. Measuring from our operator’s ear, we registered the noise level at 93 decibels in high and 95 decibels in Turbo. Comparatively, handheld gas blowers can run over 100 decibels in the same test.

Green Machine 655 CFM Leaf Blower Price

Green Machine’s blower is an online Home Depot exclusive. It runs $249 and includes a 4.0Ah battery and rapid charger. They’ll ship to your home or your local Home Depot for free.

Green Machine backs the blower with a 5-year warranty and the battery with a 3-year guarantee.

The Bottom Line

The Green Machine 655 CFM leaf blower has the power to exceed that of handheld gas blowers and its design is easy for homeowners to manage. Settling into the gap between the price of high-performance and high-value models, it might be the “just right” you’re looking for.

Greenworks 450 CFM Leaf Blower Offers A Lower Cost Option For Homeowners

The battery-powered leaf blower wars are going strong, but not everyone needs the most power available. We got our hands on the Greenworks 450 CFM battery-powered leaf blower to help you decide if this lower-cost option is a good fit for your lawn.

Greenworks 60V 450 CFM Leaf Blower Performance

Greenworks 60V 450 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Review

On paper, this Greenworks blower can produce up to 125 MPH and 450 CFM. We set up our force meter and measured 7.4 Newtons on high and 10.2 Newtons with the Turbo mode.

This is on the lower end of the scale compared to the pricey top performers that are out there. Compared to gas blowers, it’s a little less than we expect from a 25cc gas engine.

At that level, it does its best work with dry post-mowing cleanup on your sidewalks and driveway and can help you corral those dry broadleaves in the falls. It’s also a good fit for blowing off your lawn equipment when you’re finished mowing and blowing out the shop or garage.

Greenworks 2.0Ah Battery

The runtime matches those tasks well. Using a 2.0Ah battery, we ran the blower continuously for 17 minutes and 24 seconds on high, and 10 minutes 46 seconds in turbo mode. At the lowest speed, expect to run up to 45 minutes.

Greenworks 60V 450 CFM Leaf Blower Design Notes

Controls

Controls

The same basic control setup that you find on Greenworks’ higher-powered blowers is on this model as well. There’s a variable speed two-finger trigger along with a cruise control lever on the side. Above the handle, there’s a turbo button you can press when you need the most blowing force to get stubborn debris moving.

Size and Weight

Greenworks 60V 450 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Review

The Greenworks 60V 450 CFM leaf blower is longer than many of the other options you have and that’s a good thing in this case. The longer nozzle keeps the air concentrated closer to the ground and helps make the most of its blowing force.

The weight is very manageable. Bare, it weighs 5.3 pounds and it’s 8.2 pounds when you add the 2.0Ah battery that comes in the kit.

Additional Highlights

  • Metal debris scraper
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries

Greenworks 60V 450 CFM Leaf Blower Price

You can get this blower from Tractor Supply for $199.99 and it includes a 2.0Ah battery and charger. If you don’t need the kit, it’s $129.99 as a bare tool from Greenworks’ website. Greenworks back both the tool and battery with a 4-year warranty.

The Bottom Line

Greenworks intentionally dialed back the power on this blower to meet the needs of folks who don’t need the performance of their high-end 700 CFM model. They didn’t skimp on the design, though, and it has many of the same convenient controls and features as the other options in the 60V system. If you don’t need the higher performance, this blower offers a way to save some money while remaining on what we believe is Greenworks’ best overall voltage system for homeowners.

Masterforce 400 CFM Leaf Bower Wraps Up Lawn Day Right

Battery-powered lawn care equipment is all the rage these days and there are more options than ever before. When it comes to blowers, it’s tempting to chase the biggest numbers you can find. However, the Masterforce 20V brushless 400 CFM leaf blower might just be all you need once the mowing and trimming are done.

Masterforce 400 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Performance

Masterforce 20V Brushless 400 CFM Leaf Blower Review

There are two stats you should know for every blower: CFM and MPH. CFM measures how much air volume a blower produces in Cubic Feet per Minute. For Masterforce, that’s 400 CFM. On the other hand, we have airspeed measured in Miles Per Hour. In this case, it’s 100 MPH.

There are undoubtedly much higher-performing leaf blowers, some that can reach more than 700 CFM and over 180 MPH. But we need to consider how much work we can do and weigh it against other factors such as weight, price, and others. To help us out, we have a measurement called Newton force, which measures how much force a blower can produce.

The top number we hit on our meter was 8.5 Newtons. This makes it a fine choice for blowing off hard surfaces after mowing or moving those fall broad leaves into piles for collection. Where it’s going to struggle compared to more expensive options is in dealing with wet clippings and leaves.

Runtime

When it comes to runtime, we were able to continuously blow to 14 minutes with a fully charged 4.0Ah battery at high speed. When you look at the actual amount of trigger time you spend, that’s easily enough to cover post-mowing cleanup on lawns up to 1/3 of an acre.

Noise Level

Of course, one of the big reasons to switch to a battery-powered blower is the lower noise that comes with it. We measure the noise from our operator’s ear rather than the 50 feet the ANSI standard calls for. Masterforce produced just 72 decibels at low speed and 78 decibels at its highest speed. The best battery-powered blowers we’ve tested average over 80 decibels at wide open throttle, so this one is quieter than the majority.

Power Source

Masterforce 20V 4.0Ah battery

For this blower, Masterforce opts for its 20V battery, and it’s a call that has a couple of trade-offs. On one hand, there’s not as much energy available as the 80V line has. On the other, it’s compatible with Masterforce’s lineup of 20V power tools, meaning you can keep your tools and lawn care equipment on one system. It also keeps the overall weight of the tool down.

Weight

Masterforce 20V Brushless 400 CFM Leaf Blower Review

Since we’re on the subject of weight, the blower weighs 4.7 pounds and a 4.0Ah battery only brings it up to 6.2 pounds. Considering how much weight those high-voltage batteries add, the Masterforce 20V leaf blower design is a lightweight.

Masterforce 400 CFM Battery-Powered Leaf Blower Price

You can get your hands on this Masterforce blower for $139.99 and that includes a 4.0Ah battery and charger. Of course, Menards frequently runs sales and rebate offers, so keep your eyes open to snag it for even less.

Masterforce warranties the blower for 3 years.

The Bottom Line

The Masterforce 20V brushless 400 CFM leaf blower does a fine job considering it runs on just a single 20V battery. It’s a good fit for smaller lawns that mainly require hard surface cleanup after mowing and light fall leaf collection. If that sounds like your lawn and you’re looking for a lightweight alternative to gas or corded leaf blowers, this is for you.

Metabo HPT 18V Workshop Blower Helps You Work Smarter, Not Harder

Tasks like woodcutting and sanding have something in common: they can create a mess in your workshop. It would be nice not to have to worry about sweeping up sawdust and sand when the job is done. Thinking of ditching the broom and dustpan for something a little more practical? Metabo HPT has you covered with its 18V workshop blower.

Metabo HPT 18V Workshop Blower Details

This model delivers more than 60% more airflow than Metabo HPT’s previous version (RB18DSLQ4)—124 CFM compared to 77 CFM.

This blower has three speed settings, with maximum no-load speeds of 20,000 RPM and maximum air velocity of 213 MPH. The speed level controls are located on the back of the tool so you can easily manage the airflow.

You can expect to get up to 20 minutes of continuous runtime per charge when using an 18V 5.0Ah battery. This should be more than enough time to accomplish most of your necessary workshop cleaning.

One convenient feature we like is the lock on the trigger switch using a thumb-activated button. This eliminates the need to continuously hold the trigger during use, reducing fatigue and making it more comfortable to use.

Without the battery, this workshop blower weighs just 2.6 pounds, so its lightweight design helps to reduce fatigue when you’re cleaning up larger areas.

Additional Features

  • Rubber nozzle resists crushing and cracking
  • Accepts both Metabo HPT 18V and MultiVolt batteries
