We’ve used more than a dozen miter saw stands throughout the years. The best miter saw stand for the carpenter may not be best for the guy adding an addition to a home. One may prioritize portability and simplicity while the other may want a more robust unit that rolls over typical jobsite terrain.

So we have several recommendations depending upon who you happen to be and what things you prioritize in your workflow.

Editor’s Note: Check out our best miter saw article for our top recommendations.

Best Miter Saw Stand Overall

Bosch T4B Gravity Rise

Bosch CM12SD with T4B Miter Saw Stand

The Bosch T4B Gravity Rise miter saw stand has been our favorite since the first day we used it. This stand also stands the test of time—as evidenced by its 10+ year run.

The Bosch T4B stand has adjustable length and riser supports. The risers make an excellent feature for the fact that, if you set it up correctly, you don’t have to hold the end of the board to make sure you have a true cut.

No one wants to make multiple trips lugging all of the equipment around the house when cleaning up at the end of the day. The Bosch T4B miter saw stand makes this less of a chore.

You can get it for $389.

Best Portable Miter Saw Stand

Metabo HPT UU240FM

Metabo HPT UU240FM

The best portable miter saw stand in our experience has a great mix of the following:

  • Easy to transport
  • Reasonably lightweight
  • Simple to operate

The Metabo HPT UU240FM is the best miter saw stand for portability. It fits the bill on all of these items and then some. While billed as a “heavy-duty” model, it really functions as a truly portable stand that gives you helpful features without overdoing it.

You get quick-release mounting brackets a pair of 8-inch wheels, and 8 feet of outfeed support. The legs fold up very quickly, and the entire product weighs less than 50 pounds once you remove the miter saw. Speaking of miter saws, you get enough stability to affix a 12-inch slider. While we recommend removing the saw for transport—you can keep it on and move it to another part of the jobsite in a pinch. You really can’t go wrong with this $192.99 miter stand.

Other Great Options:

  • DeWalt DWX723 Miter Saw Stand – $229
  • Bosch T1B Folding-Leg Miter Saw Stand – $148.99

Best Folding Miter Saw Stand

DeWalt DWX726

DeWalt DWX726 Rolling Miter Saw Stand

For the best folding miter saw stand we again prefer the Bosch T4B noted above. However, since we already covered that one, our next pick comes down to the DeWalt DWX726 Rolling Miter Saw Stand. Aside from being an impressive stand on its own, this folding stand prices out at just $199. That’s $170 cheaper than the Bosch Gravity Rise. Considering you can buy almost two of these for one Bosch—you really have to seriously consider the DeWalt.

We like the simplicity of this stand along with its solid stance. Even when used with a 12-inch sliding miter saw it resisted wobble during cuts. It rises and collapses easily, and you can safely keep the saw in place while storing the system vertically.

Other Great Options:

  • Bosch T4B Miter Saw Stand (top choice) – $389
  • DeWalt DWX723 Miter Saw Stand – $229
  • Delta 36-267 Stand – $281.99

Best Budget Miter Saw Stand

Bosch T1B

Bosch T1B miter saw stand

When it comes to the best budget miter saw stand, we wanted to fall back to one of our less expensive picks. With these saws, even a “cheap” stand has to be able to offer enough support to make cuts, however. Still, a budget product should work with at least a 10-inch miter saw without problems. For that we selected the Bosch T1B miter saw stand. For just $148.99 you get a solid stand with dual sliding rails. And those rails extend out to a total of 8-1/2 feet to support material up to 16-1/2 feet wide.

Notably, this stand also includes an adjustable leveling foot. As anyone who’s tried to park one of these on a jobsite—three legs can rest flat on anything… Four? Not so much. With the single adjustable leveling foot, you can find the stability to work on nearly any uneven surface.

Other Great Options:

  • DeWalt DWX723 Miter Saw Stand – $229
  • Bosch GTA3800 Folding Leg Miter Saw Stand – $249.99
  • Delta 36-137 Adjustable Miter Saw Stand – $204.99

What About the Best Fence Miter Saw Stand?

Fastcap best fence

Lots of discussions have centered around the Fastcap Best Fence Pro Miter Saw Stand. This system features a rather robust product that suffers no foolishness. By that, we mean that it has a very wide stance, comes with dual sets of knobby pneumatic tires…and weighs a ton.

Depending upon whether you get the Best Fence bench mount system or the tricked-out Pro model, you’ll spend anywhere from $399 to $1400+. Clearly, this tool doesn’t target entry-level users!

We haven’t yet reviewed this system in-house. However, having used well over a dozen stands, we can make some quick observations regarding this system. First, your minimum cost for a Fastcap Best Fence Pro model with wheels is $803.79. If you want dual 64-inch fences, that price goes up. The Pro models feature precision cut length indicators and stops as well as anodized fences.

The Best Fence miter stand also keeps the wheels at the top. That means you need to navigate around these obstructions while working. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it could become a hassle depending upon how you work. In any case, we doubt you’ll find a more solidly built (or expensive) miter saw stand anywhere.

Best Miter Saw Stands from More Brands We Trust

Best Ryobi Miter Saw Stand

The Ryobi Universal Miter Saw Quickstand gives you a very portable, basic miter saw stand. It lacks wheels but holds up to 300 pounds, letting you extend the extension rails and work stops to handle longer material. Use this if you want a fully-collapsible stand that fits easily into the work van or truck. You can even slide it into the back of your pickup truck. At $179, you can find less expensive products with similar or better features—surprising given Ryobi’s typical value proposition.

Price: $179

Best Ridgid Universal Mobile Miter Saw Stand

The Ridgid Universal Mobile Miter Saw Stand with Mounting Braces has occupied a spot in our shop for years. Similar in general style to the Bosch Gravity-Rise, this stand lets you wheel around your miter saw on its large 12-inch wheels. That also gives it a ton of maneuverability when you’re on a rough jobsite.

With 300 pounds of capacity and extension arms that include material stops, you can support longer workpieces. We do, however, wish this stand included at least one roller guide.

Price: $229

Best Delta Rolling Miter Saw Stand

Delta has a foldable rolling miter saw stand that definitely caught our eye. While it holds up to 350 pounds, it does so on smaller rubber-treaded wheels. Compatible with virtually any saw, the Delta 36-267 comes in as an affordable option for anyone looking for an entry-level rolling stand.

Price: $215.27

Best Bora Portable Miter Saw Stand

What sets apart the Bora steel folding portable miter saw stand (PM-4000) is its simplicity. For less than $100 you can get a truly compact tool that fits and goes anywhere. It has 116-inches of material support using the extension arms. It can also sustain up to 500 pounds between the material and the saw. That’s a rugged tool for the price!

Price: $90.27

Best Makita Miter Saw Stand

The Makita WST01N Large Rising Base Miter Saw Stand looks a tad unconventional. What it offers is a truly wide range of uses. The spring-loaded table expands and collapses easily and rolls over rough terrain with its 12-inch wheels. Within, it hides and stores away up to 9-feet of material support that—unusually—includes vertical bracing. It also has 5 different height settings to adjust to nearly any application or user.

Price: $318.36

Best Milwaukee Miter Saw Stand

If you’re a fan of Big Red, the Milwaukee 48-08-0551 miter saw stand gives you everything you need for portable saw cutting. Made of lightweight aluminum, you can easily throw it in your truck or work van. It supports up to 500 pounds and the optional carrying strap makes it easier to get on and off the jobsite. Lastly, this stand offers one adjustable foot. That helps you level it and ensure you’re steady wherever you happen to be cutting.

Price: $239

Our Favorite Miter Saw Stand Reviews

What We Look for in a Miter Saw Stand

The following come across out as “make or break” features for a miter saw stand to be part of our recommended list.

Stability

You can’t make a cut if your stand wobbles when you use it. Some products can hold your tool, but when you begin to work, they quickly feel unbalanced and unstable. In some cases, that may be solved by realigning the saw’s front-to-back position on the stand. In other cases, the frame of the stand simply can’t handle the duties required of it.

For fixed-leg stands, we look for an adjustable foot. As we mentioned above, you can level a three-legged stand on the moon. got to four legs, however, and you need to adjust the height of that last leg to eliminate wobbling when the ground isn’t perfectly flat.

Outfeed Support

Making cuts for many on-site applications involves larger, longer pieces of material. A good stand always includes some amount of useful outfeed support. Better products have rollers that let material glide over to the saw blade. Others only include material stops. In either case, the outfeed supports should extend and retract conveniently. They also need the stability to handle heavier materials as needed without flexing.

Mobility

We can measure the mobility of a saw stand in several ways. It may include robust tires that let it roll over various jobsite conditions. Other stands might simply fold down simply once the saw is removed. If you can pick it up and carry it like a briefcase—that also fits our standards. The difference comes down to budget and preference. We’ve actually used both styles of stands over the years and the type of work you do—as well as the transportation you prefer—dictates your choice.

Ease-of-Use

Ease-of-use makes for a catch-all metric that determines just how well the features work. If the stand collapses, does it do so easily? If it has folding legs—do they tuck away neatly and without hassle? The same goes for adjusting outfeed supports, releasing the saw mounts, and utilizing material stops. A tough, sturdy product with difficult-to-use features doesn’t make for a great user experience.

Saw Portability

While some miter saw stands might end up holding your saw permanently, others require its removal. We look for easy-to-use latches that let the mounting brackets release quickly and easily from the stand. If it catches or hangs up—that can cause problems when trying to set up or pack up for the day.

Value

Before we recommend a product, we want to make sure that what you spend makes sense. We check build quality, performance, and features and “tally” that against the cost. It’s OK to pay more for a good product or tool. You just have to get enough value for the hard-earned dollars you’re spending.

Why You Can Trust Pro Tool Reviews

Ever check out a “review” site and you can’t tell if they actually tested the tools or if they’re just “recommending” the Amazon top sellers?

That’s not us. We only recommend what we’d actually use, even if we don’t earn a commission from it. It’s all about giving you a legitimate recommendation and our honest opinion of each product.

We’ve been in business since 2008 covering tools, writing reviews, and reporting on industry news in the construction, automotive, and lawn care industries. Our Pro reviewers work in the trades and have the skills and experience to know whether tools can perform well in the field.

Each year, we bring in and review more than 250 individual products. Our team will put our hands on hundreds of additional tools at media events and trade shows throughout the year.

We consult with innovators in the technology and design of tools to gain a broader grasp of where these products fit and how they work.

We work with more than two dozen professional contractors around the United States who review products for us on real job sites and consult with us on testing methods, categories, and weighting.

We’ll provide more than 500 pieces of new content this year absolutely free for our readers—including objective evaluations of individual tools and products.

The end result is information you can trust because of the editorial, scientific, and real-world professional experience we collectively utilize each and every time we pick up and test a tool.

You may have noticed some different Ridgid table saws at your local Home Depot. As part of the NEXT series that also includes miter saws, a belt sander, and a planer, we were curious to see what the flagship Ridgid R4550 portable jobsite table saw has to offer.

Check out our best portable jobsite table saws article for even more great recommendations

Ridgid R4550 Portable Jobsite Table Saw Performance

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

Ridgid’s 15-amp motor is capable of 5000 RPM and the saw has the power to cut hardwoods effectively. Just keep the pressure steady and feel/listen for the RPMs to make sure they’re staying high. As long as you do that, you don’t have to worry about burning your material as you cut.

Even with the stock blade, we were very pleased with the stability of our cuts. There’s no chatter or blade wobble as long as you don’t try to feed too quickly.

If you want to cut dadoes, you’re in business. You can swap the 10-inch standard blade out for 8-inch dado stacks up to 11/16 of an inch.

The table has a generous size with 32 1/2 inches of rip capacity to the right and 22 inches to the left. This should be more than enough to make the cuts a portable table saw excels at.

Table Extended

Ridgid R4550 Portable Jobsite Table Saw Design

Rack and Pinion Fence System

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

Overall, there’s a lot to like about the design, starting with the rack-and-pinion fence system. If you haven’t used that style before, it eliminates some of the squaring issues that come with clamping styles and it makes adjustments faster.

If you’re familiar with this fence style, Ridgid does have a few differences to look out for. The main thing is how you attach the fence. The hooks need to come up from below to grab hold of the attachment points and then pivot down to lock the rails in place.

Where this can get confusing is that there are slip-over points on the inside of the fence rails that will also lock onto the same attachment points. This is for storage, though, and attaching the fence that way puts your measurement marks way off.

As with most rack and pinion systems, there’s an additional fence support that flips around. When you’re set up for wider cuts, it sits flush with the table and acts as your outside support. When you’re set up for narrower cuts, it sits on top of the table and gives the main fence structure some breathing room that makes for better sightlines and less risk of hitting your push stick on the way through.

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

Safety Accessories

Ridgid doesn’t have the easiest accessory connections we’ve ever seen, but they are far better than what comes on basic saws. Start by bringing the riving knife up to its through-cut position and then install the anti-kickback pawls. Of the three slots/holes you see on the riving knife, the pawls go on the middle one. Pinch in the sliver button as you slide it on and then release the button. You should feel/hear it click into place. Give it a gentle tug to make sure it’s secure.

Anti-Kickback Pawls

The blade guard is even easier. There’s a support bar running through the back that needs to hook into the last slot on the riving knife. Once you pull that into place, tilt the guard toward you until the forward support rests in its slot. Push the orange lever on the guard down and it locks into place.

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

Accessory Storage

Every table saw manufacturer has to deal with how you store the accessories and we like the design that Ridgid came up with. The blade guard, anti-kickback pawls, and miter gauge have easy-to-access spots underneath the table.

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

The fence stores upside down and locks onto the same attachment points it sits on when you’re cutting. The difference is you don’t use the hooks. Instead, find the slots on the inside of the rails and slide those onto the attachment points. You’ll hear/feel them click into place and you’re good to go.

The push stick stores on the fence.

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

Table Saw Stand

Ridgid R4550 Portable Table Saw

The Ridgid R4550 comes with a table saw stand and it’s easy to use. From the vertical storage position, grab the handle and press the release with your foot. Push the handles down the saw easily lifts into position as it tilts forward.

When you’re done cutting, just reverse the process.

The stand has 8-inch wheels and you can roll around easily in most conditions. There are some sloppier environments (as I listen to the thunder rolling outside right now) where we’d like to have the larger wheels we’ve used on other stands.

Additional Features

  • No-fall bevel adjustment
  • Lockable on/off switch
  • Won’t automatically turn on if you lose power

Ridgid R4550 Portable Jobsite Table Saw Price

What’s great is that Ridgid isn’t getting away from its high-value pricing structure. The table saw with a stand runs $499 at The Home Depot. Our local store doesn’t have them in stock, but if you order online, they’ll ship it to the store for pickup or to your home/business for free.

Ridgid covers the saw with a 5-year warranty.

The Bottom Line

While the fence system takes a little getting used to, we really like the overall package that Ridgid offers with the R4550 portable table saw. Its stable cutting performance, overall design, and attractive price point put it near the top of our list.

Bora Centipede Redefines Portable Workbench Convenience

When you need a portable workbench, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? A couple of sawhorses and a sheet of plywood is a common go-to. There are some concerns about holding capacity and stability, though. The Bora Centipede workbench offers a different way of looking at things and has the potential to make your setup easier.

Bora Centipede Workbench Design

Essentially, the Centipede works on the same principle as those folding camp chairs that are so popular but with more points of contact.

The frame is made from steel and combines with the structural design to account for high load capacities. Because it is designed to have more contact points than a simple 4-leg system, it also allows you to put those heavy benchtop tools anywhere on the surface since the weight disperses over them.

How much can a Centipede hold? I’m glad you asked!

  • 4 x 2: 2500 pounds
  • 4 x 4: 3500 pounds
  • 4 x 6: 4500 pounds
  • 4 x 8: 6000 pounds

There are no typos there. Depending on which size you buy, you can hold up to 3 tons! Considering these only weigh 12 – 30 pounds, that’s very impressive.

Bora Centipede Workbench Accessories

P-Tops

P-Tops

Polymer P-Top caps are located on top of each support. These prevent damage to your workpieces from scratches or marks. They also elevate the top to avoid blades from circular saws or other tools from striking the crucial horizontal supports.

Quick Clamps

Bora Centipede Quick Clamps

Quick clamps slide into holes in the caps to secure your material in place. The caps rotate in order to accommodate clamping from whatever point is the most convenient.

The clamps are just simple rubber-covered plastic pieces that slip into the holes of the P-Tops without actually clamping down. My first thought was that I’d prefer my JackClamps holding the top in place. However, our top never moved during cutting.

X-Cups

X-Cups

The last accessories that come with the Bora Centipede workbench are X-Cups. These provide drop-in 2 x 4 support to create an instant sawhorse anywhere on the unit.

Because the P-Tops can swivel, I found that the X-Cups liked to move around on me a bit. With no load on it’s possible to knock your 2×4 support off. Once you have some weight on top, it’s a lot more stable, though.

Bora Centipede Workbench Top

Bora Centipede Workbench Top

There are also optional 2-foot x 4-foot folding tops you can use instead of plywood. These are made from MDF and have a couple of options with 20mm or 3/4-inch dog holes already drilled in them. A set of 6 twist lock handles come with each top, securing it to the Centipede and adding rigidity.

They have a hinge in the middle and handles cut into it to make carrying the top easier. You can also combine multiple tops to cover larger Centipedes.

We like this option over plywood, just be aware if you’re working outside and have rain in the forecast.

Using the Bora Centipede Workbench

Bora Centipede Workbench Review

When we first unfolded the frame, we were a little concerned about how much movement there was.

We set the Centipede up on the cement floor of our shop and placed a pair of X-Cups at each end to use it as a sawhorse and tentatively put a few boards on top that needed to be cut down to size. When I placed my hand on the board I was about to cut, I was impressed to find just how stable it was.

Switching things out for a workbench conversion, we set up the MDF top that came with our set.

Knowing that it worked as advertised on a smooth concrete surface, we went on a field trip. Not all jobsites have the luxury of smooth surfaces, and we wanted to know how they would do in less than ideal conditions. The challenge was to see if we could work the system around to make a safe, stable platform.

That’s an easier task for the smaller 2 x 4 Centipede Workbench. It didn’t take much effort at all to find a good working position for it. The larger sizes may take more effort, though. Still, having so many points of contact with the ground is significant for keeping the system from sinking lopsided into Florida’s infamous sugar sand. That design feature helps keeps it stable despite the slight elevation imperfections in the ground.

  • 4 x 4 Centipede with 25-inch WTX Clamp Edge and 25-inch Clamp Edge Extension: $149.90

The Bottom Line

We’ve been using the Bora Centipede Workbench from its original concept way back in 2015. It was an excellent product then and the latest versions have an even better weight capacity. What we love about it is how compact it stores for the amount of weight it holds and how easy the setup is. The price is reachable for DIYers who need to share garage space with a lot of other things and it’s convenient enough to make life easier for Pros as well.

Bora Speedhorse Vs Speedhorse XT Comparison Reveals An Easy Choice

The concept of the Bora Speedhorse makes getting set up an absolute breeze. Beyond speed, there are some great features that make using them easier than other models. You may have noticed that there are now two versions to choose from. In this article, we’re comparing the Bora Speedhorse vs Speedhorse XT to help you decide which one is best for your next project.

As you can see from the chart the only significant differences between the Speedhorse and Speedhorse XT are adjustable legs and the price. So is the adjustability worth an extra $20 per pair?

Absolutely!

All four legs of each sawhorse are adjustable in 1-inch increments, giving you a working height of anywhere from 30 inches to 36 inches. As someone who stands 6 feet, 2 inches tall, I appreciate the ability to raise my workspace up a little higher.

Because each leg is independently adjustable, you can also level out your workspace on uneven surfaces. Whether it’s the gradient of an unfinished construction site or just the slope of your driveway, being able to keep your materials on even sawhorses is a big win.

Which One Should I Buy?

Buy the original Bora Speedhorse if you primarily work in your garage, shop, or any space that has reasonably flat ground/floor.

For everyone else, the Speedhorse XT makes the most sense. Being able to keep keep your sawhorses even on top makes the job that much easier, and in some cases, safer. Considering the price difference between the two styles is just $20 for a pair, it’s not a big premium to pay for the extra versatility.

Bosch 4100XC-10 Table Saw Continues The 4100-Series Legacy

Table saws can come in handy in a number of woodworking applications. Bosch aims to expand the already vast function of a table saw to a more convenient and versatile level with the 4100XC-10 Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand. Take a look at its performance and features and decide if this one is right for you.

Bosch Table Saw: The Basics

The Bosch 4100XC-10 Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand has a 15-amp motor that delivers up to 4 horsepower. The blade’s maximum speed is 3,650 RPM, and it works just fine for both rip cuts and cross cuts on fine or rough wood materials.

The saw’s ripping capacity is 30 inches and it has a SquareLock rip fence designed to stay parallel to the blade without having to overthink things. It’s not quite as fool-proof as the rack-and-pinion system, though.

The saw features restart protection to prevent accidental startup, and overload protection to protect the motor. Constant response circuitry also helps the motor maintain its speed while under load. It also has soft-start circuitry, which manages motor startup intensity to reduce the likelihood that it trips your breaker when you flip it on

The Bosch 4100XC-10 table saw includes a Smart Guard system for safety and protection. It includes standard anti-kickback pawls and a riving knife to ensure safety while you make cuts. Additionally, the translucent device guard prevents blade contact while still allowing an unobstructed view of the cut.

If you’ve never used a gravity-rise stand, it’s a must-have for portable jobsite table saws. Bosch includes the GTA47W as part of the package. It features large 8-inch solid wheels for portability, even over uneven jobsite terrain. Additionally, it includes a single-action easy setup and take-down.

Additional Features

  • Large cast aluminum top
  • Onboard tool storage
  • Arbor lock for easy blade changes

Bosch 4100XC-10 Table Saw Price

As the only table saw currently in Bosch’s lineup, it retails for $599 and includes the stand. Bosch backs it with a 1-year limited warranty. Look for it wherever Bosch power tools are sold.

Bora Speedhorse Features Easy Setup, Holds 1500 Pounds

The Bora Speedhorse from Portamate looks like a great option out of the box, but our Pros had a few questions before signing off on them. With plenty of cheap plastic options out there along with the option to just make your own, we’ll see if the PM-4500 is worth a look.

Pros

  • Easy to set up and takedown
  • 1500-lb capacity for each Speedhorse
  • Pre-drilled top allows for sacrificial boards
  • Fold-outs support wood off the ground

Cons

  • More expensive than some sawhorses
  • There’s a little bit of side-to-side wobble

Capacity and Design

Each Bora Speedhorse can hold up to 1500 pounds or 3000 for a pair. We didn’t need to hold anything near that kind of weight, but we do use a sheet of plywood or subfloor to make a surface for equipment and tools that can be several hundred pounds collectively.

Bora Speedhorse

There are sandpaper sheets adhered to the left and right sides of each sawhorse to help material stay in place. It’s a nice touch, but it does wear over time.

Bora Speedhorse

Setting that first sheet on top, the issue of a metal build presents itself?

A look at the top reveals there are a couple of holes pre-drilled. These are to screw in a 2×4 across the surface to use as a sacrificial surface.

Bora Speedhorse

Even more intelligent design comes into play here. When you set a pair of 2x4s into the slots (they fit vertically), you create a flush surface with the sacrificial 2×4 and the perfect frame for your table sheet. If you’ve ever tried to put much weight on a plywood table set directly on two sawhorses, it sags in a hurry. Creating this quick frame lets you take advantage of the high load capacity.

Bora Speedhorse

At 45 inches wide, you get a much wider base than most of the cheap, plastic sawhorses you can pick up and it’s even a couple of inches wider than DeWalt’s design. That’s helpful in building a stable plywood table all the way to the edges.

One thing we noticed is that there’s some side-to-side wobble in the legs when they’re set up. It’s not extreme by any means, but it might cause additional wear in those parts over time.

Bora Speedhorse

On the positive side, flip-outs give you a place to set your material off the ground.

Bora Speedhorse

Deployment

The Bora Speedhorse is named for its quick setup and takedown. Once you get where you want to work, setup and takedown really are simple. Hold the Speedhorse up and hit the release under the handle – the first set of legs will flip down and lock in place. Hit the release for the other legs and you’re in business.

When you’re ready to bring them back, unlock the legs by pulling up on the lever on either outside edge. Once you bring the legs up, they’ll lock themselves in place. It doesn’t matter which legs you deploy or collapse first.

Bora Speedhorse

Carry slots in the sides give you a handle to work with, but these don’t stack and lock like DeWalt’s Metal Folding Sawhorses. When you’re carrying one in each hand, it’s not too bad since you’re balanced. At 17.9 pounds each, the weight is noticeable.

Price

You expect to pay more for metal sawhorses than plastic or wood. Each Bora Speedhorse is $79.99 and you can get them in a two-pack for $159.98.

There’s also an all-terrain version—the PM-4550. For $10 more, it has an adjustable length to deal with uneven ground.

The Bottom Line

The team responsible for the Bora Speedhorse clearly put some real thought into the design and there’s a lot to like. This is one of the easiest folding leg sawhorses we’ve used and it’s significantly better built than the cheap plastic ones running around.

ToughBuilt Sawhorse Features Helpful Innovations

The sawhorse has been ripe for innovation for some time now, and it looks like ToughBuilt is one of the companies to take it on. The ToughBuilt C700 Sawhorse/Jobsite Table improves upon the traditional design of this unsung hero of the jobsite, making it more versatile, portable, and ultimately, more useful.

Pros

  • Individually adjustable legs
  • Very sturdy as a sawhorse or as a table base
  • Side supports pop out for extra functionality
  • All steel, no plastic

Cons

  • Heavy compared to some other metal sawhorses, though very sturdy (not an out-and-out “con”)
  • Folding and unfolding takes some effort
  • More expensive than some other sawhorses, but you get what you pay for

Recommendation

It’s easy to recommend the ToughBuilt Sawhorse/Jobsite Table. On the portability front, it folds up to a very compact package and transports easily. Functionally, it can support a lot of weight and it’s very adjustable. It even opens you up to some applications that can be challenging with a standard sawhorse. We love the table supports. It is a little pricey compared to other sawhorses, but in this case, the price feels justified.

A Supportive Sawhorse

The ToughBuilt Sawhorse/Jobsite Table has a lot going for it, but its bread and butter really is its stability in any configuration.

First of all, this sawhorse features 100% steel construction. ToughBuilt tells us that the C700 can support up to 1300 lbs. We didn’t test this claim—mostly because we didn’t have anything that heavy on-hand to place atop them. We can, however, believe it. Absolutely no part of the TB-C700 construction feels flimsy or cheaply made.

The Toughbuilt Sawhorse also features big, pop-out feet that self-level and offer a wide base. And we mean it—the legs touch down with a generous 25-inch wide separation. Compare that to the 18-inch spread on the DeWalt metal folding sawhorses. The flat bottoms also make the C700 an ideal choice for both hard and soft surfaces because the feet won’t sink into soft soil.

The downside to the “all steel, no plastic” approach, if you really want to consider it as such, comes down to weight. At 23 lbs each, the Toughbuilt Sawhorses feel kind of heavy. Still, with the stability they provide, we find it hard to complain.

A Variety of Configurations

One of our favorite features of the Toughbuilt Sawhorses revolves around its versatility. This starts with the individually-adjustable legs. These not only give you some options in terms of choosing your own working height but working on uneven terrain becomes much less problematic. You can just keep your surface level by adjusting each leg separately.

You also have the option of joining two of the Toughbuilt Sawhorses together to form a very sturdy jobsite table. Supports at the end of the sawhorse extend out to accommodate either 2x4s or 4x4s.

Your boards will fit flush to the sawhorse surface, or you can drop down another support to give yourself a sacrificial edge to work with. The whole setup locks into place, so any inadvertent bumps won’t affect the stability of your table.

Toughbuilt C700

The top of the Toughbuilt Sawhorse/Jobsite Table features a grippy, sandpaper surface. It also comes with pre-drilled holes for securing boards to it, should you desire.

Our Favorite Feature: Cutting Brackets

We really like the cutting brackets found on the C700. These extra material supports lay flat against the side and out of the way when you don’t need them. However, fold them out and you can easily support and cut PVC pipe, EMT, or more. We also liked using them to hang tools temporarily.

Further down, the Toughbuilt C700 has material support pegs on the legs. This is really helpful for layout purposes, or in a pinch when you need to stage some plywood or OSB for ripping and installation.

ToughBuilt also makes a C300 sawhorse which gives you only the most basic features without the table option or material support pegs. Honestly, given the similar pricing, it really makes sense to grab the top model C700.

Pack Up and Go

ToughBuilt did a good job of designing the Sawhorse/Jobsite Table for compact and easy transport, but there are a couple of caveats here. We mentioned one already: they weigh a bit more than your standard sawhorse at 23 pounds each.

Toughbuilt C700

Breakdown of these sawhorses also takes a bit of effort. The legs come together and fold up into the bottom of the sawhorse. In the end, with the top handle, the package stays pretty tidy and portable.

But, there is an order of operations that needs to be followed for it to pack up effectively. Despite that order being labeled pretty clearly on the body of the sawhorse, we found that the first time through the process took some trial and error. Of course, we don’t care for reading instruction manuals either, so maybe we’ve identified part of our problem.

At any rate, neither of these issues wind up as big detractors from the Toughbuilt Sawhorse/Jobsite Table, at least not for us. We pretty much set up our sawhorses, and they stay set up over the course of the day. If you’re likely to set up and break down multiple times per day, these might be issues worth considering.

Pricing

You can pick up the ToughBuilt C700 Sawhorse/Jobsite Table for $49.97 apiece. This feels a little pricey compared to other sawhorses on the market. However, considering the solid build quality and heightened functionality, the price seems appropriate. Plus, each one comes with a Limited Lifetime warranty. Unless you lose it or someone walks off with it, you’ll only have to buy it once.

While you pay a bit more for the quality of these sawhorses, the price feels justified.

The Bosch Gravity-Rise T4B miter saw stand is smart, durable, and simple to use. With it, professionals set up easily from the back of a work truck, van, or trailer. And forget about ever carrying your miter saw again. The T4B features the same Bosch Gravity-Rise system as the former TS2000.

Editor’s Note: Check out our best miter saw article for our top recommendations.

Bosch T4B Design and Durability

Similar to other folding miter saw stands, the Bosch Gravity-Rise T4B stand works effortlessly and allows for rapid set-up and breakdown. Where it differs has to do with the build quality. We’ve affixed the rather hefty Bosch 12-inch Glide Miter Saw and taken this stand everywhere. The solid rubber wheels never go flat and we have yet to bend and the rigid tubular frame.

Best Portable Jobsite Table Saw Shootout -Bosch Gravity Rise Stand
It also comes in a version for table saws.

We also prefer this style of stand to smaller, lighter stands that have straight legs and wheels at the top. These stands work in a pinch. They also cut down on weight. They don’t measure up—in our opinion—when it comes to ease of use. You have to remove the miter saw on these stands whereas Bosch designed the Gravity Rise miter saw stand to always hold the saw.

Using the Bosch Gravity Rise Stand

With a simple turn of the release lever, you guide the miter saw stand into a working position. The weight and balance flow smoothly as it rises thanks to the heavy-gauge steel and aluminum construction. You can set the leveling feet to compensate for uneven terrain.

Bosch CM12SD Miter Saw

Turn the same release lever again, and the entire stand folds into a pushcart design, complete with 8-inch pneumatic wheels. It works really well when transporting the saw over rough job site terrain. We’ve lifted it over curbs, gone over dirt, mud—everything you can think of—all with the stand fully-loaded.

Using miter saws with this stand allows for up to 16-18 feet of support. You can easily adjust the height of the outfeeds as well with up to 12-inches of play. Bosch does a great job marking everything in Red that adjusts. We LOVE that. You never have to waste time looking for the right knob to turn.

Bosch Gravity Rise Miter Saw Stand Compatibility

The Bosch T4B utilizes an aluminum support rail and special universal Rapid-Release tool mounts that attach to the base of all Bosch (and most competitors’) miter saws. We’ve used it with several different saws and found it to truly universal so far. You get enough adjustment to balance the miter saw so it doesn’t tip backward or forward. So far, we’ve been able to get a good fit on glide-style, sliding, and non-siding saws.

Bosch T4B Miter Saw Stand Specs

  • Dimensions (HxLxW): 48.42 x 51.5 x 27.75 in.
  • Material: Steel
  • Material support: Up to 18 ft.
  • Wheels: 8 in. solid rubber
  • Integrated outfeed and supports (12 in. max height)
  • Adjustable telescoping leveling leg
  • Universal mounting system
  • Weight: 76.7 lbs.
  • Price: $351

Conclusion

We made this our top pick in our best miter saw reviews article for good reason. If you use smaller, more portable miter saws, this is probably overkill. If, however, you run a full-size 12-inch miter saw, consider budgeting in the Bosch Gravity Rise miter saw stand.

Worx Sawhorse

Worx Isn’t (Jaw)horsing Around

Worx JawhorseThe Worx Jawhorse deviates from a standard sawhorse with its clamping ability. When you need to hold your workpiece in place, but you also need both hands free, all you need to do is set your work material on the horse, snug the clamp up to the workpiece, and step on the lever. It locks the piece into place with up to one ton’s worth of clamping force.

The clamping jaws open up to 34-1/2″, and the working height stands at 33″. When the job is done, the Worx Jawhorse folds up for easy portability. At 35 lbs, it’s not light, but it’s much more stable than a standard sawhorse.

The Jawhorse really isn’t a new idea, and the new Worx model doesn’t deviate from the tried-and-true Rockwell design. The main differences boil down to a 160-pound lower capacity and 8 pounds less weight.

Pricing is what makes the Worx Jawhorse an attractive option. It’s $99.99 price tag is $50 less than Rockwell’s $150 regular price. Of course, that’s just one Jawhorse, so keep that in mind if you want a pair.

So you got the miter saw, but it doesn’t come with a stand. Before you decide which one to get, figure out what you actually need. Many Pros move toward wheeled stands that make transportation simpler. But what about options like the Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand?

There are no wheels and it’s not as sexy on the surface as the round steel tubes you find on gravity rise designs. Those steel tubes also tend to provide plenty of rigid stability to match the ease of use. But Milwaukee’s looks a little more like a glorified sawhorse. But as if Lee Corso himself were here to say it: Not so fast, my friend!

The simple appearance gives way to a pretty clever design that some Pros are going to love.

Editor’s Note: Check out our best miter saw article for our top recommendations.

Top Features

Easy Locking Legs

Each of the legs locks independently when the stand is folded up. To unlock them, just press the trigger on each one as you pull it out. It’s not as quick as a gravity rise stand, but it is a simple, easy process. When you fold the stand back up, the legs will slide over the locks on their own. Grab hold of the handle and you’re off to the races.

Solid Wing Support

Support wings come out to both the left and right to give you up to 100 inches of reach. A thumbscrew locks it in place. The wings slide easily and the screw locks them securely, but the metal-on-metal connection will likely leave some blemishes pretty quickly. It’s a jobsite tool – are you really worried about surface scratches?

The top of each wing support has a pivoting stop so you can make multiple cuts of the same length without remeasuring every time. If the material is longer than the support, just swing the stop down and out of the way.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

There is a bit of a negative here. The support ends lock down with just a single thumbscrew that leaves some play – so perfectly accurate repeat cuts might be a challenge. A second thumbscrew on the opposite side would help lock it down better. Also, if you set the stand down on its side or top, it’s not difficult to torque these out of being square. Those of you on the more conscientious side may want to remove them during transport.

Universal Compatibility

I’ll go further into the clamping system in a moment. For now, know that there’s a lot of versatility in length between mounting points, both forward/back and left/right. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a miter saw that won’t fit on the Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand.

Optional Accessories

There are a couple of extras you can buy to go with the stand and both are pretty helpful. First up is the shoulder strap. It clips to point on the far left and right of the frame. The best way to use it is to run the strap over your head so it comes across your chest and swing the stand parallel to the ground. We had to let it out pretty far to get it right. In this position, it’s fairly easy to move around the jobsite, especially when you have to take the stairs.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

The side table is a must-have for me. I’m still a pencil and notebook kind of guy, and I like having both next to me at all times. During a project, the notebook is where I keep my measurements. Yes, I have a smartphone—I’ve gone through many, actually – but I just like having my notes written down where I don’t need electricity to access them.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

The side table has a big win with the recessed area. It’s great for keeping your pencil from rolling away on you or for holding smaller hand tools and fasteners. There’s also a point of “maybe we should rethink that,” though. Being both metal and black means this table gets HOT quickly. Here in Central Florida, we might be able to cook breakfast on it during the summer!

Design Intent

One of the first things you need to realize when you look at the Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand is that you’re not supposed to carry it with the saw attached. Trust me, we tried just for the sake of the argument. It doesn’t end well.

The saw mounts on two clamps with a couple of helpful key design features. The first is that you can lay out just the supports without having them attached to the stand. That makes adjusting them to the saw much easier.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

Second, the brackets don’t require a nut – just the bolts and washers, so it’s not as awkward to tighten down.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

Installation Tip: When you install the supports, make sure the long end is to the back of the saw so you can properly line up the miter saw’s table to the support wings.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

Once you have the clamps installed on your saw, you lift the assembly onto the stand, use the handle triggers to open the locking mechanisms, pull the saw forward until the back end slips into place, let the front end drop-down, and release the triggers.

Pro Tip: You can buy additional stand clamps if you use more than one miter saw. Simply install a set on each one, say a M18 Fuel 10″ miter saw for big jobs and an M18 Fuel 7-1/4″ miter saw for trim or punch list work. Then, just take the saw you need to the jobsite without worrying about bringing a second stand.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

So the entire purpose of this design is to make a system that moves to and from the job as separate parts instead of one rolling piece of equipment.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

Who Benefits from This Design?

There are Pros from all areas of the construction industry who might find a setup like this advantageous. But the real winner is the solo contractor. Unless you have a trailer that you can roll your miter saw in and out of, separating the saw and stand makes a lot of sense. It takes two trips, but your back will thank you in the long run. Of course, if you’ve got someone else working with you, you can enjoy the support of the shoulder strap and they can carry the heavy saw. Or vice versa if you’re a nice guy. This design is also a huge benefit if you’re taking your saw up the stairs on a new construction or remodel.

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

The Bottom Line

Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand

Not everyone will see the Milwaukee Folding Miter Saw Stand as a big win. If you’ve got some extra muscle to get the saw in and out of the truck or roll it in and out of the trailer, you might be in better shape with a rolling gravity rise stand. But for the contractor that works alone even part of the time, separating the weight of the saw and the stand makes a lot of sense. It’s an awfully long day if you start by throwing out your back.

You’ll have to decide if you’re willing to lift the weight of your miter saw, though. There are some 12″ models that I have zero desire to lift on my own. On the other hand, several 10″ and compact miter saws do beautifully in this scenario.

Despite its sawhorse-esque look, there’s enough weight in the aluminum structure to be stable and there’s an adjustable leg to give you some leveling help, so don’t let that dissuade you.

Let’s talk price. The stand on its own is $199, the strap is $14.99, and the table is $24.99, so you’re in around $240 for the whole shebang. You can get rolling gravity rise stands in that price range, so this isn’t a matter of picking a cheaper option. It’s really about whether you need to carry your saw and stand separately as a preference.

That said, other premium stands similar to this design are right in the ballpark, so you’re not paying a premium for the Milwaukee name. What Milwaukee is bringing to the table is several pounds of weight loss without sacrificing quality and stability to get it. Plus, you get access to an optional strap and table to make it a more versatile stand.
