HART’s 4V Screwdriver Helps With Household Driving Tasks
Driving screws with a manual screwdriver can get old fast. This goes double for people with wrist or hand mobility issues, where repetitive motions can cause discomfort. A drill could work instead, but they’re often bulky and can be too powerful and fast for small household driving tasks. The HART 4V Cordless Screwdriver serves as an inviting middle ground and we got it in our hands to take a closer look.
Using HART 4V Cordless Screwdriver
Being almost like the baby brother of the cordless drill, the concept of a cordless screwdriver isn’t new. Many of the ones we see on the market feature a straight, inline design but HART’s HFSD02 is reminiscent of a mini-drill (or the Noisy Cricket from Men in Black if you ask Josh McGaffigan). Either way, it’s small and the design is 40% more compact than the previous HSFD01 cordless screwdriver model.
The tool’s motor produces up to 250 RPM, which is 50 RPM more than the previous model. It features two buttons that form the trigger— forward and reverse— making the design simple, yet effective for tightening and loosening small fasteners.
The trigger isn’t variable speed like a drill, but the RPMs are low enough that you still have plenty of control. Plus, the torque is low enough that there’s little risk of damaging the material you’re working with by overdriving.
The motor uses an internal 4V battery that recharges via USB cable. With the battery fully down, it takes 2 hours to recharge.
The screwdriver includes a #2 Phillips and a slotted bit. There’s onboard bit storage for a spare, so while you’re using one bit, you can nestle the other in the storage slot on top of the tool. The tool accepts any 1/4-inch hex shank bit. Stick with 2-inch long bits at a minimum for the easiest screwdriving. However, you can use a 1-inch bit if you need to work in a really tight spot.
Additionally, If you’re working in a low-light area, the integrated LED turns on automatically when you press the trigger.
Additional Features

- Integrated lanyard loop for easy hanging storage

The Bottom Line
HART’s 4V cordless screwdriver is a super-handy tool to have in your home. Its pistol-grip design is more comfortable than inline versions and being able to drive in forward or reverse without having to flip a switch is convenient. For less than $25, it’s a tool every household should have.
